Evan Rachel Wood Reflects on Her 20s in Touching Letter: 'I Could Have Been Dead'

Evan Rachel Wood just celebrated her milestone 30th birthday and is looking back on the past decade.

The Westworld actress penned an open letter spilling on the the extremely difficult things she went through in her 20s and the lessons she learned.

“I can finally start looking back on my past with a smile on my face because it’s over and I survived…I very easily could have been dead in my 20s. I think a lot of people can relate to this. I did not think I would make it this far. So every second is a gift,” Evan wrote.

She went on to recount her “time of metamorphosis, loss, love, trauma, and enlightenment” which included falling in love, meeting her heroes, getting engaged to Marilyn Manson and welcoming her son.

Evan also reflected on some darker moments like being raped, getting divorced and unfortunately attempting suicide.

“My limits have been tested in many ways, and I learned I am much stronger than I ever thought possible. The greatest lesson I have learned is that there is always more to learn,” she penned.

Thankfully, Evan was able to overcome her darkest moments and learned important lessons like asking for help, speaking your truth and trusting your intuition.

Evan Rachel Wood Sings 'Edelweiss,' Dedicates It to Her Son

Evan Rachel Wood sings a beautiful rendition of The Sound of Music‘s classic song “Edelweiss” in this new video and she also explained why she sang the tune.

“There’s been multiple times now, my son has woken up and found me in the living room, having watched the news all night, and I am quietly weeping,” the Westworld actress wrote on Twitter.

“It’s getting increasingly harder trying to explain to him why his mother is crying,” Evan said. “He doesn’t know hate. He hasn’t been taught it yet. He is pure and full of hope. So today when he found me, instead of telling him ‘our king is not a good man,’ which is all he can really comprehend at this point, I showed him The Sound of Music.”

“He clung to this song,” Evan said of the tune. “Although he can’t articulate why with words just yet, I saw in his eyes a deep understanding. He could feel the power in this piece of music and it gave me so much hope, more than he will ever know.”

“Which propelled me, a few hours later, finding myself on stage singing it with my dear friend and maybe one of the most talented people I know, Zane Carney, because he took a half serious text super seriously and I am very grateful we got to share the moment,” Evan added. “This one is for my son and for anyone who needs a reminder that there is good in the world. There are children and there is music. This song is about home. May you forever bloom and grow.”

“It’s almost hard to talk about it because I get really emotional, because working on the show changed my life in many different ways,” Evan said (via Vulture) during the panel about the effect of the show. “I knew that I wasn’t going to stay this kind of damsel in distress, that I would become strong, but my little brain didn’t go much further than that, or didn’t fully grasp how deep it was going to go, and just how profound it was going to be, and how she finds her strength. I had no idea.”

FYI: Evan is wearing a Mugler jumpsuit. Thandie is wearing a Prabal Gurung dress. Angela is wearing an alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet dress.

Evan Rachel Wood Slams Ben Affleck for Saying Kissing a Man Was the 'Greatest Acting Challenge'

An interview with Ben Affleck from 1997 has resurfaced and his quote about kissing a man is causing some controversy right now.

The actor was opening up about the Chasing Amy scene in which he kisses a man. He said, “a man kissing another man is the greatest acting challenge an actor can ever face,” according to Paper Magazine. Ben also said that after he finished filming the scene he declared himself a “serious actor.”

Westworld actress Evan Rachel Wood has taken to Twitter to slam the comments.

“Try getting raped in a scene. Also, grow up Ben,” she wrote. “Also, you think us ladies like kissing all the guys we kiss? Just cause its a ‘straight kiss’ doesn’t mean we enjoy it. Ahem.”

One of Evan‘s fans pointed out that the quotes are two decades old and he has grown up. She replied by saying, “I’m sure he just thought it was a funny, but even jokes like that are damaging.”
