Johnny Depp Requests Delay in Defamation Trial for 'Fantastic Beasts 3' Filming

Johnny Depp is requesting a delay in the upcoming trial for his defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard.

Filming is set to resume on Fantastic Beasts 3 in October and its estimated that the movie will shoot until February, according to Deadline.

The trial is set to run from January 11, 2021 to January 28, 2021, which would have worked for Johnny‘s schedule if the movie wasn’t delayed due to the pandemic.

“When the Court set the current trial date in this case, Mr. Depp understood that Warner Bros. planned to shoot Fantastic Beasts 3 in London long before January 11, 2021. COVID-19 disrupted the studio’s plans, causing repeated postponements. With conditions in London having improved somewhat, Warner Bros. has now set a shooting schedule that conflicts with the trial date in this case,” new court papers say.

Johnny has requested that the trial be postponed until sometime between March and June 2021. He is suing Amber for $50 million for what she wrote about him in a Washington Post op-ed that was published in 2018.

Earlier this summer, Johnny was in court for several weeks with Amber as part of a different lawsuit he filed against a UK tabloid. Here’s an update on the decision for that case.

Dan Fogler is teasing the third movie in the Fantastic Beasts franchise!

The 43-year-old actor, who plays fan favorite Jacob Kowalski in the Harry Potter prequel series, recently opened up about what’s coming in the upcoming third installment.

“I can say I read the script and the character development is really lovely and it’s very similar to the feel of the first movie, which I think is great,” Dan exclusively told SYFY WIRE during a chat about his Heavy Metal comics. “It’s leading toward this massive war with the backdrop of World War II, so you can just imagine epic battle scenes are coming.”

Dan Fogler also confirmed that the third Fantastic Beasts is currently on hold due to the ongoing world health crisis. Principal photography was supposed to kick off last week in the United Kingdom.

“We’re just waiting,” Dan confirmed. “I guess when everybody else starts [back up], when the mechanism starts to move again and everybody starts to get back to work, that’s when we’ll get back to work. Hopefully, sooner than later.”

J.K. Rowling Reveals More Insight on Dumbledore & Grindelwald's Sexual Relationship, But Fans Aren't Happy

J.K. Rowling has revealed some new details about Dumbledore and Grindewald’s relationship and the information is not sitting well with fans.

The “Harry Potter” author and Fantastic Beasts screenwriter revealed that the two characters had an “intense” sexual relationship. While fans are applauding the inclusion of gay characters in the story, they are upset that Rowling did not include these details in the books or films.

“Their relationship was incredibly intense. It was passionate, and it was a love relationship,” Rowling said in a bonus feature interview on the Crimes of Grindelwald Blu-ray set. “But as happens in any relationship, gay or straight or whatever label we want to put on it, one never knows really what the other person is feeling. You can’t know, you can believe you know.”

“So I’m less interested in the sexual side – though I believe there is a sexual dimension to this relationship – than I am in the sense of the emotions they felt for each other, which ultimately is the most fascinating thing about all human relationship,” she added.

Jude Law plays Young Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts movies while Johnny Depp plays Grindelwald.

SPOILERS AHEAD! Don’t continue reading if you haven’t seen the movie!

At the end of the movie, Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) revealed to Credence that he’s actually Aurelius Dumbledore, who is presumed to be the brother of Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law).

“I was shocked, stunned, confused, petrificus totalus with wonder and fascination. And I still have a lot of questions for which I have no answers,” Ezra told EW about finding out the big news. Ezra added that he first learned the true identity of Credence after promoting the first Fantastic Beasts movie in 2016.

And does Albus Dumbledore know that Credence is his brother?

“We truly do not know,” Ezra said. “Jude knows. But he won’t tell you.”

As for what the characters will be doing while waiting at Nurmengard Castle, he responded, “Probably just hang out all the time. Hopefully Antonio the chupacabra — who was treated so foully by our fearless leader and master — has some siblings somewhere. We have a phoenix. We have the Obscurus juice. Plus Grindelwald is one of the most formidable wizards of all time. And we’ll get better costumes since we’re now on the villains side.”
