The Good Doctor is coming back!
While there’s no premiere date set just yet due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes in Hollywood, ABC renewed the hit series for Season 7 back in April 2023.
It’s especially good news for fans, as The Good Doctor ended its sixth season with some major cliffhangers!
In the meantime, we do know who is likely to return to the main cast, and at least two stars who will not be.

ABC has released a trailer for the next episode of The Good Doctor, airing March 13, which is an embedded pilot episode for potential spinoff The Good Lawyer.
Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) seeks legal representation to help him win a case and puts his faith in a promising, young lawyer who has obsessive compulsive disorder.
The episode guest stars Nancy Drew star Kennedy McMann as Jodi DeGroot, the brilliant, funny and self-aware lawyer who is relatively new to her prestigious law firm when she takes Shaun’s case.
Felicity Huffman (American Crime) stars as as Janet Stewart, a highly regarded attorney and partner at the law firm with a fierce intellect and dry wit.
Joni’s compassionate, practical slightly older sister is played by Bethlehem Million. She is a voice of reason and is Joni’s biggest cheerleader, roommate and best friend.
The episode is written by co-showrunners David Shore and Liz Friedman, and directed by Ruben Fleischer.
The Good Doctor premiered in 2017 and is currently in its sixth season.
In 2021, Freddie Highmore revealed he got married and talked about his wife and married life.

Selena Gomez, Kerry Washington and Hilary Duff hit the red carpet at the 2022 ABC Disney Upfronts!
The trio of stars joined so many other actors and celebrities at the event held at Basketball City on Tuesday (May 17) in New York City.
Selena posed for pictures with her Only Murders in the Building co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short, while Hilary reunited with How I Met Your Father co-star Francia Raisa at the event.

Freddie Highmore is a married man!
The 29-year-old actor, best known for playing Dr. Shaun Murphy on The Good Doctor and Norman Bates on Bates Motel, revealed the news during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Freddie appeared live in the studio with Jimmy after the season premiere of The Good Doctor on Monday night (September 27) in Los Angeles.

ABC has announced the fate of The Good Doctor.
The long-running medical drama will be back for a fifth season, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and is actually the first of the network’s scripted series to score a renewal for the upcoming season.
The Good Doctor averages about 8.4 million viewers per episode, including a week of delayed viewing. It trails only Grey’s Anatomy, but just a little, as that series gets around 8.41 million.
The series centers on Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore), a young autistic surgeon who has savant syndrome, relocates from a quiet country life to join the surgical unit at the prestigious San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital — a move strongly supported by his mentor, Dr. Aaron Glassman.
Having survived a troubled childhood, Shaun is alone in the world and unable to personally connect with those around him, but he finds his niche using his extraordinary medical skill and intuition to save lives and challenge the skepticism of his colleagues.
The Good Doctor, which airs Mondays, also stars Hill Harper, Christina Chang, Paige Spara, Will Yun Lee, Noah Galvin, Fiona Gubelmann, Antonia Thomas and Richard Schiff.
New details about the show were recently revealed by one of the producers.
