While arriving to the event, the 26-year-old French actor said that he’s a “big, big fan of Federer. I really like his game and I think everyone likes his game. He’s one of the greatest players of all time.”

Synopsis: Marie de Mezieres (Melanie Thierry), a beautiful young aristocrat finds herself married to a young prince (Gregoire Leprince-Ringuet), she does not love, haunted by a rakish suitor (Ulliel) from her childhood, and advised by an aging nobleman (Lambert Wilson), harboring his own forbidden desire for her. Marie must struggle to stay alive in the intrigue of this corrupt political and romantic web of duty, passion, religion and war.
The Bertrand Tavernier-directed flick hits theaters April 15.

Gaspard Ulliel comes out for the Rendez-Vous with French Cinema Opening Night Gala on Thursday (March 3) at the Paris Theatre in New York City.
The 26-year-old French actor attended the event, which was presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center and Unifrance, with his The Princess of Montpensier director Bertrand Tavernier.
The 16th century drama centers around the love of Marie de Mezieres (Melanie Thierry) for her cousin Henri de Guise (Ulliel), though her father forces her into a marriage with Philippe de Montpensier because of his own political aspirations.
