Ben Affleck's 'The Way Back' is Heading to Our TVs Early Due to Coronavirus Outbreak

Ben Affleck‘s new sports drama The Way Back is heading into our homes early as theaters are shutting down amid the coronavirus pandemic, Deadline reports.

The 47-year-old Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice actor’s film premiered in theaters on March 6.

It will now be available to buy digitally starting on March 24 for $19.99. (The movie’s rollout in offshore territories will come later as well).

The film, directed by Gavin O’Connor, follows “a former high school basketball champ who gets the opportunity to coach the struggling team at his alma mater while contending with his alcoholism.”

“With audiences largely unable to view films in theatrical release under current circumstances, we have decided to provide the alternative of early digital ownership of our currently released titles to people looking for great entertainment options,” said Toby Emmerich, Chairman, Warner Bros. Pictures Group. “So, while we remain big fans of the theatrical experience and hope audiences are able to return to cinemas in the near future, we understand that these are challenging times and offering this option simply makes sense.”

Other films being released in homes early include Birds of Prey, The Invisible Man, The Hunt, Emma, Bloodshot, and I Still Believe.

Theaters could reportedly be closed until the end of May.
