George Gaynes, a character actor known for his work in seven Police Academy movies, has died at age 98.
The versatile actor passed away on Monday (February 15) in North Bend, Wash, according to Variety. He is survived by his wife Allyn Ann McLerie, his daughter, one granddaughter, and two great-granddaughters.
George is also well known for his work on the sitcom Punky Brewster as the title character’s foster parent and eventual adoptive father, as well as his role opposite Dustin Hoffman in the movie Tootsie.
