Giacomo Gianniotti looks so handsome while attending the launch of Super 8 by Wyndham’s new Journey Safe campaign on Thursday (March 7) in New York City.
The 29-year-old Grey’s Anatomy actor has teamed up with the hotel brand to help raise awareness and educate the public around the dangers of drowsy driving, which causes more than 100,000 crashes annually.
“Drowsy driving is a serious, yet often overlooked, issue that affects everyone, which is why I’m working with Super 8 on this important cause,” Giacomo said in a statement. “It’s entirely preventable, but doing so requires us all to recognize the signs and take action when we do.”
On Instagram, Giacomo opened up about how he once crashed his car because of drowsy driving.
“About 10 years ago I was bartending in Rome and after a double shift and little to no rest, I drove home, exhausted. I fell asleep and woke up to sparks hitting me in the face as my Green 95’ Renault Twingo grinded to a halt against a guardrail at 70 miles an hour. It was 4:30 am and there wasn’t a soul on the road and I was lucky to escape with my life and not harm anyone else in the process. The bruises healed but the trauma and fear of what ‘could’ have happened have stayed with me to this day. That is why I take the pledge to #notdrivedrowsy and I encourage you all to do the same. And if you are on a long journey and know you need to stop. Let @super8 be your roadside companion to help you get rested and ready to reach your destination safely,” he said.
