Glenn Frey Had Been Hospitalized Since November

Glenn Frey, legendary entertainer with the band the Eagles, had been hospitalized for illness since November, his good friend Bob Seger revealed.

The 67-year-old musician suffered from colitis most of his life, and had it under control. Things took a turn for the worse late last year due to his rheumatoid arthritis and other issues. He passed away this week from the complications.

“They were trying like hell to keep him alive. He’d been at Columbia Medical Center since November,” Bob told the Detroit Free Press.

“First he caught one set of pneumonia, then he caught a very virulent set of pneumonia,” Bob continued. “They were trying like hell to keep him alive. He’d been at Columbia University Medical Center since November. (Eagles manager) Irving (Azoff) pulled every ace out of the hole – he had the eight best specialists working on Glenn. About a month ago, they had to throw up their hands.”

“He would never fail to start with telling me how grateful he was that audiences were still there,” Bob added. “He loved the band. He loved the fact he could keep doing this. And he kept doing this until six months before he died.”

Don Henley Releases Statement on Glenn Frey's Death

Don Henley is speaking out about the death of fellow Eagles founding member Glenn Frey.

The guitarist died at age 67 after battling intestinal issues over the past few months, which worsened in the last couple days.

“He was like a brother to me; we were family, and like most families, there was some dysfunction. But, the bond we forged 45 years ago was never broken, even during the 14 years that the Eagles were dissolved. We were two young men who made the pilgrimage to Los Angeles with the same dream: to make our mark in the music industry – and with perseverance, a deep love of music, our alliance with other great musicians and our manager, Irving Azoff, we built something that has lasted longer than anyone could have dreamed,” Don started off his statement (via EW).

“But, Glenn was the one who started it all. He was the spark plug, the man with the plan. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of popular music and a work ethic that wouldn’t quit. He was funny, bullheaded, mercurial, generous, deeply talented and driven. He loved his wife and kids more than anything,” he continued.
