'Cats' Will Be Eligible to Compete in Golden Globes 2020!

Cats will be eligible to compete in the 2020 Golden Globes after all!

It was reported earlier this month that the upcoming star-studded musical movie would miss the eligibility deadline for the awards show, but sources now reveal a screening of Cats has been scheduled to screen for the Hollywood Foreign Press in early December, which could put it into contention for multiple nominations in the Globes’ best musical or comedy motion picture categories, Variety reports.

The Golden Globes nominations will be announced on December 9, and HFPA members must see all films by December 4.

It’s unknown right now if Cats will be screened in time for other upcoming awards show.

Pierce Brosnan's Sons Dylan & Paris Named Golden Globes Ambassadors 2020!

Pierce Brosnan‘s sons have been named the 2020 Golden Globe Ambassadors!

Dylan, 22, and Paris, 18, have been selected for the prestigious honor at the upcoming awards show. This is the first time the position will be held by two brothers.

Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Meher Tatna made the announcement during a ceremony on Thursday night (November 14) at the Catch in West Hollywood, Calif.

Each year, the HFPA chooses a child of one of Hollywood’s most respected actors, director, or producers to help them raise money and awareness for a nonprofit organization of their choice.

“We’re proud to honor our dad’s legacy as we join the incredible roster of previous Golden Globe Ambassadors, many of whom have gone on to pursue their own dreams in the entertainment industry,” Dylan said during the event. “The biggest lesson our dad taught us is to ‘be kind,’ which was an essential factor in Paris and my decision to study filmmaking and our desire to tell important stories. Having this opportunity to turn the spotlight outward on kids experiencing hunger is a true privilege.”

Paris added: “As students, my brother and I understand the value of education and its importance in equipping the next generation with skills to succeed. I’ve never had to worry about where my next meal might come from – I’m lucky in that respect; but I know that millions of children worldwide don’t have that luxury. School meals provide critically important nutrition, and also incentivize parents to keep kids in school, giving them a fighting chance for a better life.”

The organization the brothers have partnered with is FEED, which delivers nutritious meals to school-aged children around the world.

Paris and Dylan will also be helping out during the ceremony next year by ushering presenters on and off stage and handing out awards.

The 2020 Golden Globes will take place on Sunday, January 5 on NBC.

22 Times There Were Tie Winners at Awards Shows!

There were two ties at the 2019 Critics’ Choice Awards this year and that led us to wonder how many times there have been ties at awards shows in the past.

Well, the overwhelming majority of ties happened at the Critics’ Choice Awards, but there are still several notable ties that happened at the Oscars and the Golden Globes over the years.

Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep tied for the Best Actress win at the Critics’ Choice Awards in 2010, but Sandra went on to win the Oscar.

Meryl also tied with Anne Hathaway for Best Actress two years earlier at the Critics’ Choice Awards!

Golden Globes 2019 Ratings Are In

The 2019 Golden Globes ratings are in…and the show garnered its smallest audience in three years.

Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh hosted this year’s show, which averaged 18.6 million viewers and a 5.2 rating with adults 18-49, EW reports. This is up 4 percent from last year in the same demographic.

Last year’s show averaged 19 million viewers.

On the bright side, while overall viewership declined, other awards shows – including the Academy Awards and Grammys – have been down in viewership to an even larger degree including the adult demographic, which the Globes didn’t experience this year.
