Julianna Margulies Reacts to 'The Good Wife' Ending in May

Julianna Margulies is speaking out after CBS shocked audiences by announcing during the Super Bowl that The Good Wife will be ending in May.

“Being a part of The Good Wife has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. As an actress and a producer, it has been an absolute honor to be a part of a series that, throughout seven years, never settled on being just good… but always strived to be extraordinary,” the 49-year-old actress said in a statement (via TVLine).

“I have witnessed magic happen when Robert and Michelle King put pen to paper, and it has been a privilege to be in the company of their brilliance. To the most amazing and talented cast and crew, there will always be a special place in my heart for our Good Wife family,” Julianna continued. “As we close the book on our beloved show, I am humbled and grateful to know that together, we created and were a part of something truly remarkable.”

Just two weeks ago, Julianna foreshadowed the news when she said that she is going to need a job after April.

'Good Wife' Announces Final Season During Super Bowl 2016

The Good Wife will be ending after the current seventh season, CBS announced during a commercial that aired during the 2016 Super Bowl!

There are only nine episodes left in Julianna Margulies‘ hit drama before the series finale airs on May 8.

“It’s never easy to say goodbye to one of the crown jewels of your network and studio, much less to a show that is among the best on television,” said Glenn Geller, President, CBS Entertainment and David Stapf, President, CBS Television Studios. “But it also feels very right to end with the seven-year story its creators envisioned, and to celebrate the show’s final run while at the top of its creative game. It has been CBS’s sincere privilege to broadcast and produce The Good Wife for seven extraordinary seasons. We thank and applaud the outstanding cast, led by the impeccable Julianna Margulies, and the consummate writing and producing team, headed by the brilliant Robert and Michelle King, who brought to life a smart, sophisticated series that has delivered audiences so many memorable characters and unforgettable moments. It is a series that will only grow in prestige as its episodes are watched again or discovered by new viewers for many years to come.”

Julianna previously alluded to the series ending after she said she will be jobless after the season ends.

Is Julianna Margulies Leaving 'The Good Wife' After Season 7?

Julianna Margulies seems to have confirmed that she might leave The Good Wife after the current seventh season.

The fate of the series has been in question as showrunners Robert and Michelle King announced they will be leaving after this season, so if Julianna leaves the show, it’s very possible it will be canceled by CBS.

Julianna showed up to the Casting Society of America’s Artios Awards on Thursday night to support the Kings, who were being honored with a special award.

“I surprised Robert and Michelle tonight,” Julianna said (via Vulture). “They didn’t know I was going to be here. They think I’m here for them, but I’m unemployed come April, and I think you haven’t seen me in a while, at least not in person, so I thought I should show up.”

Julianna Margulies Denies 'Good Wife' Feud with Archie Panjabi

Julianna Margulies is opening up about the reports of a feud between her and The Good Wife co-star Archie Panjabi.

Rumors had been swirling over the years about the feud after the Emmy-winning actresses didn’t share a scene for several seasons. The final scene between the co-stars added fuel to the fire after it was revealed they didn’t film it together.

“Right, I’ve heard about [the feud]. Who says that? It’s totally gossip,” Julianna said (via Vulture). “I heard that question had been asked to Robert King. There’s no story there, sorry … I actually had heard [that rumor] and I feel that it has been talked about and answered. I feel people just like to have gossip or make something into something that isn’t there. There’s no animosity on my part. It’s a shame, because I wonder if it was two men, when one finds out that he f–ked his best friend’s wife, if it would get that same attention, you know what I mean?”

Julianna also opened up about why she didn’t film the final scene alongside Archie.

“It was shot the way Robert [King] wanted to shoot it, and the story line, too,” she said. “You also have to remember, there’s difficulty … [Panjabi] was also doing another show, called The Fall. I went along with whatever Robert asked me to do and I did it happily.”

Archie Panjabi's 'Good Wife' Exit: Kalinda & Alicia Say Goodbye (Video)

SPOILER ALERT! Do not continue reading if you have not watched the season finale of The Good Wife yet.

The season six finale of The Good Wife aired and featured a long awaited scene between Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) and Alicia (Julianna Margulies). It has been more than fifty episodes since the two were featured in a scene together!

This was Archie‘s final appearance on the show, and it ended with their scene. Read the dialogue below.

Kalinda: “My time with you as your friend was the best I ever had, and I’m sorry. I’m really sorry that things got messed up.”
Alicia: “I wish we had the chance to do it over again,”
Kalinda: “I have to go.”
Alicia: “I’ll never see you again?”
Kalinda: “I don’t think so.”
Alicia: “That’s too bad.”
Kalinda: “I, um [nods], goodbye.”
Alicia: “Bye.”

Fans were so curious as to why Alicia and Kalinda did not have more scenes together.

“I think that’s a question you need to ask the producers,” Archie told EW about the lack of scenes between the two characters. “What is great is that relationship between the two women is one of the best relationships on TV, in terms of it being the most honest. Hopefully, you may see something of that before I leave.”
