Sebastian Stan Shares His Reactions Watching 'Gossip Girl' Pilot 13 Years After Premiere - Watch!

Sebastian Stan is celebrating the 13th anniversary of the premiere of Gossip Girl!

The 38-year-old actor, who made guest appearances on the show as Carter Baizen, took to Instagram on Saturday night (September 19) to share a video of himself re-watching the pilot.

The video starts with Sebastian chugging down a glass of wine, before he sporadically makes cringy faces while watching the episode.

When pal Chace Crawford, who played Nate Archibald, appears on screen, Sebastian freaks out and says, “Man I always wish I had that hair.”

At the end of the episode, Sebastian seemed to get a little choked up while embracing the nostalgia of the hit show.

“Well I wasn’t in the pilot, but I wish I was,” Sebastian says. “There it is. Xoxo.”

'Gossip Girl' Turns 13 - Look Back at the Cast at the 2007 Premiere Event!

Can you believe it has been 13 years since Gossip Girl premiered on television?!

The beloved CW series ran for 121 episodes across six seasons and now creators Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz are working on a reboot series for HBO Max.

We decided to take a look back at the show’s premiere event, which took place on September 18, 2007 at the club Tenjune in New York City.

In attendance at the launch party were Blake Lively (Serena van der Woodsen), Leighton Meester (Blair Waldorf), Penn Badgley (Dan Humphrey), Chace Crawford (Nate Archibald), Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass), Taylor Momsen (Jenny Humphrey), Jessica Szohr (Vanessa Abrams), Kelly Rutherford (Lily van der Woodsen), Matthew Settle (Rufus Humphrey), Nan Zhang (Kati Farkas), and Nicole Fiscella (Isabel Coates).

Eric Daman, who was the costume designer on the show, just spoke to Variety about the popularity of the series.

“It’s crazy just how popular the original [series] still is! It’s funny to have all these young kids discovering Gossip Girl with their moms who used to be fans. It’s really awesome to see this resurgence but also the generational difference. I’m like, ‘How is this a retro show?’” he said.

'Gossip Girl' Reboot Creator Shares New Details About the Upcoming Series!

The showrunner of the upcoming Gossip Girl reboot is sharing TONS of new info about the series!

Joshua Safran – who serves as creator, showrunner, and executive producer of the reboot – took to his Twitter on Sunday evening (September 6) to answer questions from fans about what to expect in the upcoming HBO Max series.

While he didn’t reveal too many spoilers, Joshua did tease that the show is going to be “very, very queer” and that the main difference between the original series and the reboot is that the “majority” of the characters will be “diverse and/or queer.”

In July 2019, HBO Max announced that they were picking up the Gossip Girl reboot for 10 episodes. The series was supposed to begin production over the summer, but the pandemic had delayed production until 2021.

The new cast includes Emily Alyn Lind, Tavi Gevinson, Thomas Doherty, Adam Chanler-Berat and Zion Moreno, and Kristen Bell was set to return as the show’s narrator.

Penn Badgley & Chace Crawford Look Back on 'Gossip Girl': 'It Was Ahead of Its Time'

Penn Badgley and Chace Crawford are in a reminiscent mood in their new feature for Variety.

The two Gossip Girl actors looked back on the series that launched their careers and opened up about what the experience was like for them.

However, the two do admit that it’s been quite a while since they’ve watched the series.

“I haven’t seen it in so long. It would be very interesting to watch it now. Have you seen it recently?” Penn asked Chace, who said that someone would have “to strap me to a gurney and pop my eyes open like ‘Clockwork Orange.’ But no, it would be interesting to see the first couple maybe.”

Penn adds that the last time he saw the show was with his wife, Domino Kirke, when they first started dating.

“It must’ve been six months after we met. She had never seen it, and that’s the last time I can remember seeing an episode,” he says. “I remember even then, it has nothing to do with the show, but it was very hard to watch. These snapshots of yourself when you’re 20, 21, 22 years old. Who can enjoy that? Sometimes it’s just uncomfortable.”

Chace and Penn do feel that the series was ahead of its time for jumpstarting the social media age.

“I remember even meeting a publicist that first season, and she was talking about this thing called Twitter. And as she explained Twitter, I was like, ‘What is this nonsense? I don’t want to have a Twitter account, and you tweet. What is this bird thing?’” Penn recalled. “That’s something that actually years later, I think we got to give credit to ‘Gossip Girl.’”

Chace added, “It was ahead of its time.”

Ed Westwick Responds to Backlash from 'Gossip Girl' Fans Who Were Unhappy with His Announcement

Ed Westwick has a message for fans who may have been upset about the announcement that he teased on social media.

The 32-year-old actor teased fans on Sunday and the hint that he gave for his big announcement was “xoxo.” If you’re unaware, “XOXO” was the way the character known as “Gossip Girl” on the series would sign off from her messages.

Most fans assumed that Ed was announcing involvement in the upcoming Gossip Girl reboot, but he instead revealed a line of face masks he created with that Gossip Girl tagline.

Ed took to Twitter to respond to people who were not happy with the announcement. He explained how the purpose of the initiative was to raise money for charity.

“For those of you that are upset about teasing my collection with the design graphic to raise money for @KickItOut: I hope you can check out the charity and learn more about their mission, who they are helping and the impact it will make in our world to combat racism and discrimination. It is important to me to use my platform to spread love, bring awareness to various organizations and do what I can to make a difference. Love, Ed,” he wrote.

Ed added, “While a GG reboot would be a great distraction, this is not the time for distractions. It is important we focus on the issues at hand, and do what we can to help, even if we think it’s something small.”

Ed Westwick Seemingly Teases a 'Gossip Girl' Announcement!

Does Ed Westwick have Gossip Girl-related news?! It sure seems that way!

As of late May, the highly anticipated reboot of the series was delayed until 2021 due to the pandemic.

The reboot follows a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl. The prestige series will address just how much social media — and the landscape of New York itself — has changed in the intervening years.

“They hadn’t even started production yet; they were in pre-production and ready to roll,” Kevin Reilly, HBO Max chief content officer, shared with Vulture. Find out who’s in the cast so far!
