Chace Crawford Says 'Gossip Girl' Reboot Makes Him 'Feel Old'!

Chace Crawford is opening up about the upcoming Gossip Girl reboot!

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Thursday (August 1), the 34-year-old The Boys star was asked about Gossip Girl returning as a new series heading to HBO Max.

“No one called me! I was really upset about it,” Chace said. “No, I’m teasing. It’s great.”

HBO Max announced plans earlier this month for a reboot of the iconic CW teen drama, with original creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage tied to the project. It will feature a brand-new cast of teens enjoying their privileged lives on New York City’s Upper East Side.

“You know, I could maybe come back and play a father or something,” Chace Crawford joked on WWHL. “It’d be nice. When I first heard about it, it just made me feel old. I was like, ‘Oh my God. They’re already remaking our show, that’s a lot of fun’.”

'Gossip Girl' Creator Reveals What to Expect from Reboot Series

It was recently announced that Gossip Girl will be returning to television with a reboot series on the upcoming streaming platform HBO Max.

Josh Schwartz, one of the co-creators of the original CW series, is opening up about his and producing partner Stephanie Savage‘s vision for the new show.

Stephanie and I have been talking about it off for the last couple of years and obviously we’ve seen more shows get revisited and there are people on social media asking for it,” Josh said (via Deadline). “We felt that a version with just our cast grown up, regardless of the challenges of getting those actors, didn’t feel like a group of adults controlled by ‘gossip girl’ made much sense. We felt there was something interesting that we are all ‘gossip girl’ in our own way and how that’s evolved, morphed and mutated and telling that story through a new generation of Upper East Side high school kids felt right.”

The producers have reached out to the stars of the original series and offered them the chance to be involved.

“If they want to be involved in some way – we’ve reached out to them, we’d love them to be involved but we didn’t want to make it contingent. It’d be great to see them again,” he added.

Kristen Bell Talks Possible Return for 'Gossip Girl' Reboot!

Kristen Bell is opening up about the upcoming Gossip Girl reboot!

During a recent interview, the 39-year-old actress kept mum when asked if she would be returning for the new series heading to HBO Max.

“Maybe,” Kristen teased to E! News. “I’ll never tell.”

Kristen voiced Gossip Girl the entire run of the show. On the series finale back in 2012, Kristen made a brief appearance as herself running lines with Rachel Bilson.

It is being reported that the Gossip Girl reboot will take place after the series finale and will follow a new generation of New York private school teens.

If she can’t voice Gossip Girl, Kristen did share who she wants to take on the role.

“James Earl Jones,” Kristen Bell suggested. “It’s gotta be, yeah.”

'Gossip Girl' Reboot Is Happening, Will Debut on HBO Max!

Warner Media just announced that a Gossip Girl straight to series reboot is in the works!

The show would debut on the new streaming service, HBO Max.

Don’t expect to see Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively), Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) and co. on the new show.

Variety reports that the show is “set eight years after the original show’s finale and will follow a new generation of New York private school teens who are introduced to the social surveillance of the Gossip Girl site.”

The show will get 10 episodes that will be one hour in length.

Gossip Girl ended in 2012 after six seasons on The CW.

HBO Max will also be the home of another huge streaming show!

A 'Gossip Girl' Reboot Is Being Discussed at The CW!

It has been over six years since Gossip Girl ended, but there’s a chance that the show could return to The CW!

During the network’s panel at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, The CW president Mark Pedowitz responded to questions about a possible reboot or revival.

“There’s a discussion, but I don’t know if we’re there yet,” he said (via TVLine). “I don’t know what it would be. A lot is up to Warner Bros. and [executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage], ’cause you don’t want to do anything without them.”

Gossip Girl was never a big ratings hit while on-air, but it left a huge impact on pop culture and has remained successful on streaming services like Netflix. The show made huge stars out of cast members Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Leighton Meester, and more.

Jennifer Lawrence Wanted to Play Serena on 'Gossip Girl'!

Gossip Girl creator Josh Schwartz is revealing that he almost had a very different actress portraying the character Serena on the hit show: Jennifer Lawrence!

Josh revealed in a Vulture interview that Jennifer originally auditioned for the iconic Serena van der Woodsen role, which ultimately went to Blake Lively.

“We did not realize this at the time, but Jennifer Lawrence really wanted to play Serena and auditioned. This story came to us secondhand, but we were told she definitely auditioned and was bummed to not get it,” he explained.

“We can’t remember if we saw it or not. It was ten years ago, and she would’ve been how old, 15?”

It’s safe to say Jennifer is handling the rejection just fine these days. Could you imagine her playing Serena on the show?
