NBC has pulled the plug on Heroes.
The show’s declining ratings and high production cost are to blame for the cancellation, according to THR.
Heroes ran four seasons and was considered for a shorter final season to wrap up the storyline.
Other NBC shows canceled today include Mercy and Trauma. Long-running drama Law & Order also got the boot yesterday.
FYI: Chuck, which was on the bubble and up for cancellation, was renewed earlier today.
Zachary Quinto and his co-star Milo Ventimiglia shoot a new scene for their show Heroes in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday (November 20).
SPOILERS: Milo‘s on-screen brother Adrian Pasdar (Nathan Petrelli) will take his final bow TOMORROW (November 30) on NBC @ 8PM ET/PT.
“Some deaths really need to stick,” Adrian tells USA Today. “I’m happy to have had the opportunity to have this long of a run.”
“On a show where you put characters in life-and-death situations with real stakes, characters have had to die,” creator Tim Kring adds.

On-screen brothers Milo Ventimiglia and Adrian Pasdar fly off together while shooting a new scene for Heroes in Los Angeles on Friday (September 25).
Earlier this week, the two-hour season of Heroes only pulled in 6.1 million viewers (at the height of its popularity, more than 16 million people tuned in).

Heroes hunk Milo Ventimiglia, aka Peter Petrelli, films some scenes as a paramedic for the new season of Heroes in Los Angeles on Tuesday (July 28).
Over the weekend, the 32-year-old actor attended the Comic Con 2009 convention in San Diego, Calif. When asked to describe his character in the new season, Milo said, “He’s seen it all. He’s got a lot more humor about it. Nothing’s new to him. If someone comes to him swinging, he’s going to swing back harder.”

The cast of Heroes take the latest cover of Entertainment Weekly. The show has been dubbed “a series in crisis.”
The mag’s cover tag line reads: “Oh great… Now the cheerleader, the world and the show need to be saved. But is it too late?”
Fallen Heroes featured: Masi Oka, Zachary Quinto, Ali Larter and off-screen couple Milo Ventimiglia and Hayden Panettiere.

Milo Ventimiglia shares a meal with a soldier in the mess hall of a Forward Operating Base (FOB) just outside of Baghdad, Iraq. The 31-year-old Heroes star visited some real life heroes while traveling to Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan from July 6 to 12. He opened up to Men’s Vogue about his experience overseas:
What inspired you to get involved and take a USO (United Service Organizations) tour? Whether you support war, or don’t support war, there’s no reason not to support a soldier. It’s a very honorable thing that they’re entering into.
How did your girlfriend and family feel about you going? Everybody close to me was a little nervous about me traveling abroad through a war zone, but the one message I got from everyone was to be safe and come home. Everyone was supportive. And everybody was happy when I got home.

Heroes star Hayden Panettiere, Masi Oka and Zachary Quinto take the cover of TV Guide‘s latest issue to promote the upcoming third season of their hit NBC drama, airing this Monday @ 9PM ET/PT.
SPOILER ALERT: Sylar goes on a mad rampage to get Claire’s brain. Peter comes back from the future to commit an inconceivable act of violence. And our planet is in danger of cracking in half. But right now, Hiro, the time-bending fan-geek played by Masi Oka, has a more immediate problem. A cute little blonde has knocked him on his ass. Literally.
“My character will finally meet his nemesis this year – the Joker to his Batman,” Masi tells TV Guide, who’s shooting a scene in which Hiro takes a sucker punch from Daphne, the new supersonic speedster played by Brea Grant (Friday Night Lights). “Daphne steals Hiro’s very destiny,” he says, “And that’s not OK, because it’s his destiny to save the world. Again. For the third time in three seasons.” He adds, “This show is getting to be like 24 – only Hiro has more than a day to work on the problem.”
