HBO and BBC’s His Dark Materials has been renewed for a third and final season. If you don’t know, the show is based on Phillip Pullman‘s novel trilogy.

“His Dark Materials has been a truly global TV experience and a personal career highlight,” executive producer Jane Tranter said. “The creative team at Bad Wolf in Cardiff made the impossible possible and brought Philip Pullman’s worlds into vivid life. To see that hard work and dedication applauded and embraced by fans around the world has made all the hard work worthwhile. None of this would have been possible without the wonderful commitment and conviction of the BBC and HBO. I am excited, thrilled and honored to be making the third part of Philip Pullman’s trilogy with their support and encouragement. Diolch.”

Ruth Wilson, Dafne Keen, Amir Wilson, and more star. Production on the final season will start up sometime next year.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is set to reunite with Fleabag co-star Andrew Scott for a TV project!

Andrew stars in the HBO series His Dark Materials and he just announced that Phoebe will guest star in season two in a voice role.

Phoebe will be playing his character John Parry’s osprey dæmon Sayan Kötör. Deadline reports that in the world of His Dark Materials, “the bond between person and dæmon is sacred, with the animal representing a physical manifestation of a human soul.”

Andrew says, “What’s beautiful to me about the books is the relationship with the dæmons and, I think this is the first time we are revealing this, but my dæmon is going to be played by someone who is very close to me in my real life: a young performer and writer called Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The relationship is all about companionship, friendship, and loyalty and that’s what I feel about Phoebe in my real life so it’s wonderful that this is happening.”

Season two is expected to premiere later this year.

The two stars joined Dafne Keen and Ruth Wilson to chat up the new HBO series.

The first season of the new show follows Lyra (Keen), a seemingly ordinary, but brave young woman from another world. Her search for a kidnapped friend uncovers a sinister plot involving stolen children, and becomes a quest to understand a mysterious phenomenon called Dust.

As she journeys through the worlds, including our own, Lyra meets Will, a determined and courageous boy. Together, they encounter extraordinary beings and dangerous secrets, with the fate of both the living — and the dead — in their hands.

The trailer for HBO’s new epic fantasy series His Dark Materials has arrived!

Dafne Keen, James McAvoy, Ruth Wilson, and Lin-Manuel Miranda star in the new series, based on the best-selling books of the same name by Philip Pullman.

The cast was at Comic-Con on Thursday (July 18) to debut the trailer. The show premieres on both HBO and BBC this fall.
