'How I Met Your Dad' Not Picked Up By CBS, Will Be Shopped Around at Other Networks

How I Met Your Dad, the spinoff series to How I Met Your Mother, was sadly not picked up by CBS.

Though the network has until end of day today to change their mind, it is very unlikely. Twentieth Century Fox is planning on shopping the rights around to other networks, however, and it has reportedly already received some interest, Deadline reports!

“To say we love this show (HIMYM) is an understatement,” CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler said. “There were elements of the pilot that didn’t work.” She added, “Creative always drives the business. I’m heartsick, as it is a very important show. It didn’t work out.”

How I Met Your Dad was supposed to star Greta Gerwig in the leading role, with Meg Ryan voicing the mother.

Meg Ryan Voicing the Mother in 'How I Met Your Dad'!

Meg Ryan will be voicing the role of the mother in the upcoming series How I Met Your Dad, according to Deadline.

The 52-year-old actress will be playing the voice of future Sally (Greta Gerwig) in the spinoff series of How I Met Your Mother. Just like Bob Saget, who voiced the father on the originals series, she will never be seen on the show.

While the series has non been picked up yet by CBS, it is considered a strong candidate to be placed on the schedule for the upcoming season.
