Ciara, Iman and Teyana Taylor are the cover stars of Essence‘s July/August issues, available now.

Here’s what the trio had to share with the mag:

Ciara on becoming resilient: “The biggest thing for me has been understanding how important patience is…My faith has carried me through every challenge and triumph. When I was younger and wanting things to happen when I wanted them to happen. I could never have imagined that 15 years later I’d be having the time of my life.”

Iman on David Bowie encouraging her to launch her cosmetics line: “He literally did not understand fear. He was in my corner cheering me on every step of the way. If it wasn’t for him, I would never have done it.”

Teyana on showing real love with husband Iman Shupert: “I don’t want my supporters to feel like we’re untouchable. I don’t want y’all to think we’re Perfect Pattys, because that’s just not real. I think sometimes it takes other couples to see like, ‘Damn, they were able to talk and get through it. That’s inspirational…’”

Taraji P. Henson gives Uzo Aduba a hug at the InStyle Badass Women Dinner on Saturday night (February 2) in New York City.

The actresses were joined at the event by Padma Lakshmi, Natasha Lyonne, Hari Nef, Iman, and Taraji‘s co-host of the night, InStyle‘s Editor-in-Chief Laura Brown.

The Instyle Badass Women Dinner celebrates women who “not only have a voice but defy the irrelevant preconceptions of gender.”

Elton John and husband Michael Furnish stepped out to host their annual AIDS Foundation benefit!

The couple hit the red carpet at the An Enduring Vision Benefit on Monday night (November 5) Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.

Event attendees included Connie Britton, Ava DuVernay, Iman, Chris Hardwick and his wife Lydia Hearst.

The annual event helps to raise money for the Elton John AIDS Foundation to find a cure for the disease.

Nicole Kidman, Tiffany Haddish, and Iman look like they’re having the best time together at the Michael Kors Collection Spring 2019 Runway Show held at Pier 17 on Wednesday (September 12) in New York City.

Also in attendance at the show were Rose Byrne, Dianna Agron, Catherine Zeta-Jones with her daughter Carys, Cynthia Erivo, Irena Kim, Anna Wintour, Gretchen Mol, and more.

The stars all sat in the front row to watch the models walk the runway that afternoon.

Here’s what the 62-year-old supermodel had to share with the mag:

On making an effort to ensure diversity on today’s runways: “There were more black models working back when I started than there have been recently. So Bethann Hardison, Naomi Campbell, and I got together a couple of years ago to raise awareness about the need for diversity in fashion. We talked about it in the press and to the CFDA, and I think we’re seeing the change on the runways and in campaigns… People used to say to me, ‘You just want to be invited to the table.’ And I’m like, ‘F**k the table—I can buy my own table.’ But the young girls who are coming up? They need to see themselves portrayed.”

On how to help promote diversity in the industry: “If a designer boycotts me, I should boycott him. I’m not going to buy a bag from someone who doesn’t use black models. We should celebrate and highlight the people who actually step it up.”

On how her style has changed over time: “I’ve always lived by the philosophy that in a world full of trends, I want to remain a classic. True style is like a great black-and-white picture: It never looks dated.”
