Mr. Robot's Rami Malek Wants to Make Crazier Choices in Future Roles

Rami Malek shows off his buff arms in this brand new feature for Interview magazine’s August 2016 issue, where he was interviewed by Robert Downey, Jr.

Here’s what the 35-year-old Mr. Robot actor had to share:

On New York City: “I’ve always felt like I belong there. Growing up [in L.A.] and having a family here was something that I, of course, adored because I was surrounded with that unit. But from the first time I went over there, I felt connected to the way things move, the pace, the ability to strike up a conversation with anybody. I know that people often say it’s hard to talk to people in New York. I think it’s harder sometimes in L.A. But I like the neighborhood vibe, I like getting on the train and going anywhere with that type of speed, having everything at my disposal. The culture, the pace, all of it. I like feeling like I’m in that concrete jungle.”

On future roles: I don’t want people to look back and think, ‘This character was entirely in his wheelhouse, and he’s probably going to end up playing a bunch of paranoid guys who have conspiracy theories.’ Which could easily happen! I’ve had my fair share of 1970s conspiracy movies delivered over. I would love to turn around and do something polar opposite, and that might actually be happening soon. If the right people are involved and the script is just as powerful, I’d like to make some even crazier choices.

Who is James Bay? Get to Know the Grammy-Nominated Singer!

As tonight’s 2016 Grammy Awards draw closer, we wanted to shine a bit of a spotlight on one of this year’s Best New Artist nominees – James Bay.

The 25-year-old British singer will be hitting the stage for a performance with fellow nominee Tori Kelly.

James gained critical and commercial success here in the U.S. with his hit debut album Chaos and the Calm.

“It’s this endless adventure,” James recently to “Someone like me, who comes from this tiny little country…it’s a diverse part of the world. I love the variety. A lot great music was born here. And the crowds are different and react to different parts of the sets. I don’t do the same thing every night. There’s always a different twist on it. The mood, the environment, the atmosphere. The way that people react to that in America is a wonderful thing. It’s inspiring.”

In case you’re unfamiliar, James also nabbed Grammy nominations for Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song, for his track “Hold Back the River.”

“It’s never really awards. I will say that,” James told JJ back before his nominations were announced. “If they happen, if they come along, it’s a nice little…extra whatever. I don’t make any music to do that. The awards are achieving sold-out shows and bigger venues every time. I would like to tour the States in the biggest places in each state. And play big shows like that. I love playing lots and lots of people. This is a place that really responds to that. So if you have the right music, the right songs…that’s what I want to achieve.”

The 2016 Grammys air TONIGHT at 8/7c on CBS!

“It’s always usually bullsh-t because sex is both totally satisfying, extremely passionate, super clumsy sometimes, occasionally funny, sometimes very angry – there’s all sorts of reasons,” Josh told us. “And if you put a narrative inside the act itself, suddenly the scene has a purpose beyond just getting people naked.”

See what else he and his castmates shared with us!
