Robert Downey Jr. Confirms He's 'Done' with Marvel Movies

Robert Downey Jr. has confirmed that he won’t be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In a new interview for the SmartLess podcast, the 55-year-old actor said that he is “done” with the franchise.

Co-host Jason Bateman asked him, “I’m assuming that the Marvel thing is at a slower speed now, or are you done with that now?”

“That’s all done,” Robert said. “As far as I’m concerned, I hung up my guns and I’m good to let it go.”

Robert also said, “I also think that Marvel is on this journey now. They’re trying a bunch of other stuff and you know, I’m excited for them to see how all that goes.”

SPOILER ALERT: In the 2019 movie Avengers: Endgame, Robert‘s character Tony Stark/Iron Man was killed in a battle.

Taika Waititi Jokes That Tony Stark Is Alive & Returning for 'Thor 4' by Leaking Fake Script

Taika Waititi is playing games with Marvel fans by sharing a fake script from the upcoming movie Thor: Love and Thunder.

The Oscar-winning filmmaker is returning to direct the fourth movie in the Thor franchise and he jokingly teased that Robert Downey Jr.‘s Tony Stark would be returning for the film.

While going live on Instagram on Thursday (April 9), a page from the fake script could be seen on Taika‘s desk while he showed off other things on the desk.

“Thor squints, trying to make out the figure before him,” the script reads. Thor then says, “Do’th mineth eyeth deceiveth me?” before realizing that Tony is in front of him.

When Thor asks Tony how he’s still alive after his demise in Avengers: Endgame, Tony says, “Science. Also, Thanos is back.” He then says that the Avengers are assembling again and it’s “GO TIME.”

Tony says, “Everyone who died is coming back. And this time we’re avenging even more than ever. From now on we’ll be known as… The Avengererers.”

Obviously, this is not real!

'Iron Man 3' Star Rebecca Hall Reveals Original Plan for Her Character Maya Hansen!

Iron Man 3‘s Rebecca Hall is speaking up.

The 37-year-old actress spoke to Collider about the original plan for her character, Maya Hansen, in the movie. Warning: spoilers ahead!

PHOTOS: Check out the latest pics of Rebecca Hall

In the interview, she revealed that her character was supposed to make it to the end of the Marvel 2013 movie.

“Yeah! She was meant to be a sort of – oh god, I can’t even remember probably now. In the first script that I read she was in it to the end and she created whatever that serum-y thing was and then she sort of saved it by doing an act of martyrdom at the end and there was a whole like, she was evil but then she tries to be good at the end situation. It was a better part,” she revealed.

Iron Man 3 was originally going to have a female main villain, but a change was reportedly made by Marvel execs.

“The change was brought upon by the higher ups at Marvel (not Marvel Studios) assuming that female character toys don’t sell as well as their male counterparts,” Screen Rant reported.

“While Hall didn’t get into the finer details of what her Iron Man 3 role would’ve been, it seems like Maya’s character arc was somehow maintained – only condensed. In the movie, she backstabs Pepper and Tony by revealing that she’s actually working for Killian but goes on to have a change of heart. However, she didn’t have any time to make amends since the moment she stood up against her boss, he immediately killed her – deeming her unnecessary for his mission.”

This Marvel movie was just postponed amid the global health crisis.
