Kristin Chenoweth to Star in 'Queen of Versailles' Stage Musical, Reteaming with 'Wicked' Composer Stephen Schwartz

Kristin Chenoweth has her eyes set on a Broadway return!

The Tony-winning actress will be starring in and producing the upcoming stage musical The Queen of Versailles, based on the award-winning 2012 documentary of the same name.

Kristin will portray the title character, socialite and TV personality Jackie Siegel. She is reteaming with Wicked composer Stephen Schwartz, who is writing the music for the new show.

Here is the synopsis: From computer engineer to Mrs. Florida to billionairess, Jackie sees herself as the embodiment of the American Dream. Now, as the wife of David “The Timeshare King” and mother of their eight children, they invite us to behold their most grandiose venture yet: they’re building the largest private home in America in Orlando, Florida — a $100 million house big enough for her dreams and inspired by the Palace of Versailles. But with the Great Recession of 2008 looming, Jackie and David’s dreams begin to crumble, along with their lavish lifestyle.

An invite-only industry reading of the musical is set for March 24 in New York City in preparation for an out-of-town engagement.

Kristin wrote on Instagram, “IT’S HAPPENING!! 👸 Honored and excited to tell you that we’re bringing #QueenOfVersailles to the stage! To produce & star in this, while also reuniting with @wickedschwartz, is nothing short of a dream!! ❤️.”

In a recent interview, Kristin gave an update on her wedding plans!

Jackie Siegel Says Her Daughter Victoria Did Not Die in Vain

Jackie Siegel is opening up about the death of her daughter Victoria and reveals why she didn’t die in vain.

The 49-year-old Queen of Versailles star and her husband David have started the Victoria’s Voice Foundation to raise awareness about addiction.

“By doing this, it’s given us some strength, knowing that we’re going to save other lives and that Victoria didn’t die in vain,” Jackie said in a statement to People. “That maybe death has a greater purpose.”

“One hundred percent of my focus right now is on saving lives. Not on business, not on houses, not on reality shows,” David said. “I want my daughter’s legacy to be that thousands of lives will be saved because she lost hers. That’s what’s keeping us sane. We could have crawled into bed, pulled the covers over our head and been a basket case, but instead we embarked on this journey to help other people, to save other families from going through what we’ve gone through.”

Jackie also opened up about taking photos at her daughter’s funeral service.

“It was just so traumatic. I was almost like a zombie. I didn’t know if it was real or fake. One minute I’m crying uncontrollably, the next minute I’m just numb. And I’m trying to be strong for the kids,” Jackie said. “But I wanted to remember every last precious moment of my daughter before she’s down in the ground and going to be dirt. So I don’t see anything wrong with taking a couple pictures.”

Victoria died on June 6 at the age of 18 from an overdose.
