James Ingram Dead - Grammy-Winning Singer Dies at 66

James Ingram has sadly died at the age of 66.

The news was confirmed by his friend and creative partner, Debbie Allen, on Tuesday (January 29).

“I have lost my dearest friend and creative partner James Ingram to the Celestial Choir. He will always be cherished, loved and remembered for his genius, his love of family and his humanity. I am blessed to have been so close. We will forever speak his name,” she wrote.

The cause of death was a battle with brain cancer, according to TMZ.

James has two Grammy Awards, for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance in 1982 and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals in 1985, as well as two No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hits: “Baby, Come to Me” and “I Don’t Have the Heart.”
