Jared Leto Confirms He Will Play Andy Warhol in an Upcoming Movie

Jared Leto is celebrating an upcoming role.

The 48-year-old Suicide Squad actor confirmed in a post on his Instagram on Friday (August 7) that he will be playing the late Andy Warhol in an upcoming movie.

“Yes it’s true I will be playing Andy Warhol in an upcoming film. And so grateful and excited about the opportunity. Happy belated birthday, Andy. We miss you and your genius,” he captioned a series of photos of the late artist, who was born on August 6.

Four years ago, Jared was first attached to a project called Warhol as reported by THR. Terence Winter, who wrote The Wolf of Wall Street, was said to write the screenplay using the 1989 book Warhol: The Biography as a starting point for the script.

Mindy Kaling Recreates Jared Leto's Two-Headed Met Gala Look With a Tarp, Lights, & Packing Tape

The 2020 Met Gala was going to take place on Monday, but it has been postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing health crisis… so people are recreating old looks at home!

Mindy Kaling just participated in the “Met Gala Challenge” and she recreated the iconic look that Jared Leto wore at last year’s event.

Jared wore a Givenchy design, which included a wax figure head that was modeled after his own head.

“Recreating one of my favorite Met Gala looks ever with the help of a tarp, some Christmas lights and packing tape. I think Alessandro Michele would approve,” Mindy wrote on her social pages. She then encouraged others to participate by saying, “Your turn, post your look with #MetGalaChallenge by 5/3 and @voguemagazine will choose select looks to feature on social.”

Sony Delays Release of Three Movies, Including 'Morbius'

Sony Pictures has announced that three of the studio’s upcoming movies have been delayed due to the current shutdown of movie theaters amid the health crisis.

The Spider-Man spinoff movie Morbius, the upcoming sequel Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and the video game adaptation Uncharted have all been pushed back.

Morbius, starring Jared Leto as the title character, was originally set to hit theaters on July 31 and it has been delayed until March 19, 2021.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which includes the return of the film’s original cast, was originally going to be released on July 10, but it has now been pushed back to March 5, 2021.

Tom Holland‘s movie Uncharted was going to be released on March 5, but it has been delayed until October 8, 2021 to make room for Ghostbusters.

The studio also announced that the Kevin Hart movie Fatherhood will now come out earlier than planned. It was originally hitting theaters on January 15, 2021, but it will be released on October 23, 2020.

Jared Leto made headlines last week when he came back from a phone-free meditation in the desert to learn of the pandemic, but now he’s all caught up to speed.

The 48-year-old Oscar-winning actor provided an update for fans on Wednesday (March 25).

“I hope everyone out there is safe and sound, wherever you are. I’m sending good thoughts and energy your way. I’m locked down and practicing social distancing over here and I hope you guys are staying put and doing the best you can to protect the people that you love. Jared Leto Was in the Desert for 12 Days & Only Just Learned About the Coronavirus Pandemic

Jared Leto just finished a 12-day silent meditation in the desert, where he had no communication with the outside world, and he only just learned what’s happening in the world amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The 48-year-old Oscar-winning actor took to Twitter on Monday night (March 16) to send a message to fans.

“Wow. 12 days ago I began a silent meditation in the desert. We were totally isolated. No phone, no communication etc. We had no idea what was happening outside the facility,” Jared tweeted. “Walked out yesterday into a very different world. One that’s been changed forever. Mind blowing – to say the least. I’m getting messages from friends and family all around the globe and catching up on what’s going on.”

Jared added, “Hope you and yours are ok. Sending positive energy to all. Stay inside. Stay safe.”

While he was in the silent meditation, Jared had tweets scheduled to go out on his account, including one that detailed the moment he nearly died while rock climbing with the star of Free Solo.

Jared Leto nearly almost died while rock climbing once.

The 48-year-old actor shared the story with his fans on social media, revealing that yesterday (March 5), he had gone climbing with Free Solo‘s Alex Honnold in Nevada, and took a fall.

“Not to sound dramatic, but this is the day I nearly died,” Jared wrote on Twitter. “Took a pretty good fall climbing with @AlexHonnold at Red Rock. Looked up and within seconds the rope was being cut by the rock while I dangled some 600 ft in the air. I remember looking down at the ground below.”

He continued, “It was a strange moment – less fear, more matter of fact, and slightly melancholy. The adrenaline came after, when I got back on the wall. But we made it through and lived to see another day 😅🙏🏼.”

“Overall it was actually quite fun. we continued climbing into the night…”
