Jason Clarke is taking on the role of a LA Lakers legend.

The 50-year-old Pet Sematary actor has been cast as Hall of Famer Jerry West in the upcoming HBO pilot titled Showtime.

The true-story project is based on the book Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s written by Jeff Pearlman.

The story “chronicles the professional and personal lives of the 1980s Lakers, one of sports’ most revered and dominant dynasties — a team that defined its era, both on and off the court,” with Jason playing the “the cantankerous tortured genius of basketball, who ought to be the perfect man to build the Lakers into a dynasty — if only he can get past his own worst enemy: Jerry West,” Deadline reports.

Jason Clarke‘s upcoming miniseries Catherine the Great will premiere on HBO this fall.

The Pet Sematary stars joined co-star Jeté Laurence and directors Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer, as well as “Church the Cat,” at Nitehawk Cinema on Wednesday (April 3) during the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival in Brooklyn, New York.

Pet Sematary follows Dr. Louis Creed (Clarke), who, after relocating with his wife Rachel (Seimetz) and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family’s new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (John Lithgow), setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.

The movie hits theaters on April 5.

The co-stars attended the screening hosted by Beyond Fest to promote their upcoming horror flick based on the book written by Stephen King.

Jason Clarke and Amy Seimetz happily hit the red carpet together while attending the world premiere closing night screening of their film Pet Sematary held at the 2019 SXSW Film Festival on Saturday (March 16) in Austin, Texas.

The duo were joined at the event by their co-stars Alyssa Brooke Levine, Hugo and Lucas Lavoie, Jeté Laurence, as well as writer Jeff Buhler, producer Mark Vahradian and Lorenzo di Bonaventura, and directors Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer.

“The scariest scene in the film was at 4 a.m., in a real cemetery, digging up my daughter who is nine feet under,” Jason said of the scariest scene he filmed. More than six; it was quite deep, that hole. In the rain. It was horrible. Terrible.”

Keira Knightley is sandwiched between handsome co-stars Alexander Skarsgard and Jason Clarke at the premiere of their movie The Aftermath on Monday (February 18) at the Picturehouse Central Cinema in London, England.

The movie is set in postwar Germany in 1946. Rachael Morgan (Knightley) arrives in the ruins of Hamburg in the bitter winter, to be reunited with her husband Lewis (Clarke), a British colonel charged with rebuilding the shattered city. But as they set off for their new home, Rachael is stunned to discover that Lewis has made an unexpected decision: They will be sharing the grand house with its previous owners, a German widower (Skarsgard) and his troubled daughter. In this charged atmosphere, enmity and grief give way to passion and betrayal.

The Aftermath will be released in theaters on March 15 in the U.S.
