Jay Z Explains Why He & Beyonce Named Their Twins Rumi & Sir

Jay Z is spilling on the reason he and Beyonce decided to name their two-month-old twins Rumi and Sir.

The 47-year-old rapper made the revelation during hosts Elliot Wilson and Brian Miller‘s Rap Radar podcast earlier this week.

Rumi is our favorite poet, so it was for our daughter,” Jay said. “Sir was like, man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that. He just came out, like, Sir.”

Jay and Beyonce are also parents to five-year-old Blue Ivy, who rapped a freestyle for one of the bonus tracks on Jay‘s new album, 4:44.

“I can’t even listen to that song no more,” Jay shared. “I only listen to her freestyle, and then I’m like, ‘I can’t listen to this.’ … She got the headphones and she climbed on the little stool, and then she just started rapping. I was like, ‘Oh, s–t.’ I have [her full freestyle] on my phone. Five minutes! Five minutes of her doing that.”

Jay-Z Steps Out in London, Talks About THAT Elevator Fight

Jay Z wears a yellow sweatshirt under his denim jacket while stepping out at Chiltern Firehouse on Friday night (August 18) in London, England.

The 47-year-old rapper just gave one of his most revealing interviews in a long time, in which he talked about his rumored feud with Kanye West and that elevator incident with sister-in-law Solange Knowles.

“We’ve always had a great relationship,” the rapper told the Rap Radar podcast about him and Solange. “I fought my brothers and argued with my brothers my whole life. It just so happens, who we are, these things go into a different space, but it ain’t nothing.”

“We’ve had one disagreement ever. Before and after, we’ve been cool,” he added. “She’s like my sister. I will protect her. That’s my sister. Not my sister-in-law. My sister.”

Jay also praised Solange for her music.

“I think we went into that elevator great artists. That don’t surprise me. I’ve always loved Solange’s music. I think she was slept on before this album. I thought the album before this one was amazing too. Incredible artist,” he said.

Jay-Z Says 'Kill Jay Z' Song Is Not a Kanye West Diss Track

Jay-Z‘s song “Kill Jay Z” from the 4:44 album calls out his former friend Kanye West, but the rapper now says the song itself is not meant as a Kanye diss.

Tidal just released an hour-long interview with Jay from the Rap Radar podcast and he talks about being upset by Kanye talking about his wife Beyonce and daughter Blue Ivy on stage.

“What really hurt me was, you can’t bring my wife and my kids into it,” Jay said. “Like, Kanye is my little brother. He’s talked about me a hundred times, he even made a song called ‘Big Brother.’ We’ve gotten past bigger issues. But you brought my family into it, now it’s a problem.”

“You know it’s a problem because me and him would have been talked about it, been resolved our issues,” he added. “And he knows crossed the line, he knows. And I know he knows. Cause we’ve never let this much space go between one of our disagreements and we’ve had many. That’s just who we are.”

“He’s an honest person and he’s wrong a lot of times,” Jay continued. “But, the point is — I was getting to a point where, ‘You got hurt by that.’ You can’t get diss somebody by saying you got hurt. That’s the softest diss of all-time. What are you talking about, you sucka ass n***a? You soft as sh*t! It’s not about a Kanye diss. I’m talking about me. When I say, ‘You dropped out of school, you lost your principals,’ I’m not talking about Kanye. I’m talking about me. The whole thing.”
