Jean Dujardin accepts the Academy Award for Best Actor at the 2012 Oscars held at the Hollywood & Highland Center on Sunday (February 26) in Hollywood.

The 39-year-old The Artist star beat out Demian Bichir (A Better Life), George Clooney (The Descendants), Gary Oldman (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), and Brad Pitt (Moneyball).

Jean‘s win marks the first time a French actor has taken home the Best Actor Oscar. Gerard Depardieu was nominated in 1990, while French actress Marion Cotillard won the Best Actress Academy Award in 2008 for La Vie en Rose.

Jean Dujardin hits the red carpet at the 2012 Oscars held at the Hollywood & Highland Center on Sunday (February 26) in Hollywood.

The 39-year-old actor walked the carpet with his wife Alexandra Lamy.

Jean is nominated for Best Actor tonight for his work as George Valentin in The Artist. He is up against Demian Bichir (A Better Life), George Clooney (The Descendants), Gary Oldman (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), and Brad Pitt (Moneyball).

Billy Crystal hosts the 2012 Oscars live TONIGHT at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT on ABC!

Michael Fassbender, Jean Dujardin, and Colin Firth suit up for the 2012 BAFTAs, aka Orange British Academy Film Awards, held at the Royal Opera House on Sunday (February 12) in London, England.

Michael, 34, and Jean, 39, are both up for the award for Best Actor, while Colin is serving as a presenter at the show; his movie Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is also up for the award for Best Film!

Colin walked the red carpet with his wife Livia, who is taking on the Green Carpet Challenge, a movement to bring sustainable fashion to the red carpet.

Colin and Michael are wearing Giorgio Armani tuxes made from ethical wool, and Livia is wearing a tuxedo by Sir Paul Smith.

Berenice Bejo, her director/husband Michel Hazanavicius, and Jean Dujardin attend the Academy Awards Nominations Luncheon held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Monday (February 6) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

All three are nominated for Oscars this year for their work in the critically acclaimed film, The Artist.

Inside the luncheon, Jean met up with his fellow Best Actor nominees, Demian Bichir, George Clooney, Gary Oldman, and Brad Pitt.

The Artist is also up for Best Picture, along with War Horse, Moneyball, The Descendants, The Tree of Life, Midnight in Paris, The Help, Hugo, and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

Jean Dujardin is all smiles at the L.A. City Council’s Made in Hollywood commendation presented to the cast of The Artist at the Red Studios on Tuesday (January 31) in Los Angeles.

The 39-year-old French actor was joined by his director Michel Hazanavicius and co-stars Penelope Ann Miller, James Cromwell, Missi Pyle, Beth Grant, and Uggie the dog.

Berenice Bejo looks stunning at the 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday (January 29) in Los Angeles.

The 35-year-old actress, who wore a Ralph Lauren Collection dress and carried a Swarovski clutch, was joined by her The Artist co-star Jean Dujardin and director/husband Michel Hazanavicius!

Jean won in the category of Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for his work in The Artist – congrats, Jean!

The cast of The Artist was also nominated Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, but lost out to The Help.
