'Big Little Lies' Director Explains Why a Second Season Shouldn't Happen

Jean-Marc Vallee, the director of the entire HBO limited series Big Little Lies, is speaking out to explain why he doesn’t think a second season should happen.

The series was based on a novel and the full story was wrapped up in the first season, but star and executive producer Reese Witherspoon said conversations for a second season are currently being held.

Liane Moriarty, who wrote the book, has some ideas about what a second season could look like.

Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman are up to no good in the first trailer for their upcoming HBO miniseries Big Little Lies.

In the show, the actresses play mothers whose normal lives are completely unraveled when tragedy hits.

Also joining the cast are Shailene Woodley, Alexander Skarsgard, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz, and Adam Scott.

The dark comedy, based on Liane Moriarty’s 2014 novel of the same name, was developed by Reese and Nicole, directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, and created David E. Kelley.

Jared Leto Believes That 'Failure Is Essential'!

Jared Leto keeps it cool and casual as he hits the red carpet while attending the 2015 Los Cabos International Film Festival Opening Night Gala held on Wednesday (November 11) in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The 43-year-old actor was in attendance to help honor writer and director Jean-Marc Vallée, who he worked together with in Dallas Buyers Club, which earned Jared an Oscar, a SAG Award and a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Role, among other awards and recognition’s.

Jared recently opened up about why he believes that failure is essential.

“I don’t think failure is dark at all. I think that failure is what leads to success and success is oftentimes what leads us to fail,” Jared expressed at his Fast Company Innovation Festival panel. “It’s the truth and they should teach us that when we’re kids. They teach us to avoid failure, that we should jump over that chasm like its something we should be ashamed of. It’s not a dirty word, failure is essential. I’ve learned much more from my failures than I have my successes.”

Jake Gyllenhaal Once Wrote KFC a Complaint Letter

The actors were joined by co-stars Chris Cooper and Judah Lewis, as well as director Jean-Marc Vallee.

The movie starts with Jake‘s character writing a letter of complaint and he revealed to reporters that he once wrote a complaint letter to KFC as a kid.

“I don’t know if you remember: Kentucky Fried Chicken, when I was a kid, they had these things, [Chicken Littles] … like little hamburgers, but they were fried little chicken nuggets,” Jake said (via People). “Anyway, they discontinued them, and in school, we were told to learn how to write a complaint letter, right? So I wrote a complaint letter to Kentucky telling them [to bring them back].”

Jake Gyllenhaal & Naomi Watts Kick Off TIFF with 'Demolition'

Jake Gyllenhaal looks dapper in his suit while walking the red carpet at the Demolition premiere and opening night gala of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday (September 10) at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, Canada.

The 34-year-old actor was joined at the event by his co-stars Naomi Watts, Chris Cooper, Judah Lewis, and Heather Lind, as well as director Jean-Marc Vallee.

Demolition is about a successful investment banker (Gyllenhaal) who struggles after losing his wife in a tragic car crash. What starts as a complaint letter to a vending machine company turns into a series of letters revealing startling personal admissions. Davis’ letters catch the attention of customer service rep Karen (Watts) and, amidst emotional and financial burdens of her own, the two form an unlikely connection.
