Jake Gyllenhaaal arrives in style for the photo call of his latest movie Stronger during the 2017 Rome Film Festival on Saturday (October 28) in Rome, Italy.

The 36-year-old actor looked handsome in a gray suit as he was joined at the event by Jeff Bauman – who he portrays in the film.

In Stronger, Jake plays Jeff, a survivor of the Boston Marathon bombing, who lost both of his legs and helped authorities identify the bombers. The film is out in theaters now.

Jake Gyllenhaal is getting real about playing Boston Marathon survivor Jeff Bauman.

The duo sat down to chat about their upcoming film Stronger during a Build Series panel on Friday (September 15) in New York City.

They were also joined by co-star Tatiana Maslany and director David Gordon Green.

“I think it was very important to all of us to be true to the real moments, the complexities of being a human being,” Jake explained.

He added, “I think that’s what storytelling should be about, saying, ‘Yes you should be grateful but you can be selfish and angry too and that’s okay. As long as you’re good.’ That was very important to show.”

The 36-year-old actor’s leading lady Tatiana Maslany was also at the premiere, looking chic in a short patterned dress.

In Stronger, Jake plays Jeff, a survivor of the Boston Marathon bombing who lost both of his legs and helped authorities identify the bombers. The film hits theaters on September 22.

The 36-year-old actor joined Jeff Bauman, the man he plays in the film, at the premiere on Tuesday (September 12) at Spaulding Rehab Center in Charlestown, Mass.

Jake‘s co-star Tatiana Maslany and actor Jon Bernthal were also in attendance at the event.

Erin Hurley, Jeff‘s ex-wife who is portrayed by Tatiana in the film, was seen on the red carpet as well.

The 35-year-old actor held up a sign for “Erin,” who was the real-life girlfriend (and now wife) of the character he’s playing, Jeff Bauman.

Based on the book Jeff wrote about surviving the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombings, Stronger is “a deeply personal account of his journey of recovery, examining his inner courage, community pride, familial bonds and an unexpected love,” according to Deadline.
