So many great Broadway stars came together in New York City this week to film a performance to give people hope for the return of live theater!

Bernadette Peters and Andrew Rannells were among the stars who participated in NYCNext’s A Moment for Broadway event on Wednesday (October 7) in NYC’s Times Square.

Also in attendance were Gavin Creel, Telly Leung, Carolee Carmello, Norm Lewis, Javier Munoz, Joel Grey, Eden Espinosa, Sierra Boggess, Kate Baldwin, Stark Sands, Jennifer Damiano, Ari’el Stachel, Andrea Burns, among others.

Some unfortunate news was just revealed about Broadway.

NBC New York is reporting that the Broadway League is going to announce on Friday that Broadway will not return until May 30, 2021, at the earliest.

Broadway shows have been shut down since March 13, 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The shutdown was supposed to end in January 2021, but now will be extended as the pandemic is still not under control and it’s not safe for thousands of people to sit in an indoor theater together.

The productions that come back to Broadway will return across a series of rolling dates.

The Broadway stars performed two shows at the venue this week!

Kathryn and Jennifer have something in common other than being best friends – they’ve both starred in productions of the Broadway show Spring Awakening. Kathryn was in the revival while Jennifer was in the original production. They began the night with a duet on the show’s song “My Junk.”

The rest of the evening was dedicated to the music of powerful women, including Carole King, Bonnie Raitt, Fiona Apple, Janis Joplin, and more. Watch some clips here!

Kathryn, who was seen in the Netflix series You, will return to Broadway in the fall for Jagged Little Pill.

Benjamin Walker suits up on the red carpet at the opening night after party for Broadway’s American Psycho the Musical on Thursday (April 21) at Stage 48 in New York City.

The 33-year-old actor was joined by his co-stars Jennifer Damiano, Helene Yorke, and Alice Ripley at the event.

Some of the stars that stepped out to see the show that night included Bryan Cranston, Christian Slater, Glee‘s Jenna Ushkowitz, Looking‘s Raul Castillo, Smash‘s Krysta Rodriguez, and Broadway star Laura Osnes with her husband Nathan Johnson.

Benjamin‘s wife, actress Kaya Scodelario, was in the audience for the opening, though she didn’t pose for photos.

“Happy opening @apthemusical tonight will be my 5th time watching and I’m still not sick of it. And I’m not just saying that cos I’m shagging the lead actor 😎😎😎,” she wrote on Instagram.

Tony Award winner Alice Ripley and Tony Award nominee Jennifer Damiano, who played a mother-daughter duo in the acclaimed musical Next to Normal, also star in the show.

Benjamin takes on the role originated in the movie version by Christian Bale and he reportedly spends much of the show wearing very little clothing!

Ricky Martin keeps his shades on while walking the red carpet at the opening of the Broadway revival of Pippin on Thursday (April 25) at the Music Box Theatre in New York City.

The 41-year-old singer was joined at the show by Smash stars and real-life couple Debra Messing and Will Chase, 30 Rock‘s Jane Krakowski, Victor Garber, and Broadway stars Steve Kazee and Jennifer Damiano.

“Nice day, nice walk. See you soon #NYC!” Ricky tweeted earlier in the day.

The Book of Mormon stars Andrew Rannells, Rory O’Malley, and Nikki M. James hold onto some adorable dogs up for adoption at the 13th Annual Broadway Barks held in Shubert Alley on Saturday (July 9) in New York City.

Broadway Barks was started by veteran actresses Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore to promote the adoption of shelter animals.

Also in attendance at the annual event: Spider-Man: Turn of the Dark‘s Reeve Carney and Jennifer Damiano, as well as Catch Me If You Can star Aaron Tveit.

Reeve Carney and Jennifer Damiano walk the red carpet at the 2011 Tony Awards held at the Beacon Theatre on Sunday (June 12) in New York City.

The Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark co-stars will be performing during the show tonight even though their musical will not be eligible for awards until next year.

Spider-Man pushed back its opening night to June 15 in order to make changes to the production and missed the eligibility cut-off date for this year’s awards.

Jennifer is no stranger to the Tony Awards as she was nominated for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical for Next to Normal in 2009!
