The 34-year-old actress and singer opened up about her experience with Broadway crowds while starring in The Color Purple.
“You never know what you’re going to get with the Broadway audiences, especially with a show like this. People are crying, people are acting it out, people want to recite the lines, and lucky for my character, I get to come out thirty minutes into the show. So I get a heads up, like, ‘It’s a very vocal crowd. They’re very active,’” Jennifer said.
“The other night I was out there and a lady wanted to do the scene with Celie. She had her fingers and she was like, ‘I curse you mister!’ And I was like, what is she doing? But you can’t look at the people, because we’re in character!”
Jennifer also explained how an audience member once got out of his seat and moved a prop to the side because it was blocking his view!
