During the stand-up bit, he joked about calling someone up and being disappointed if they picked up because people just love seeing a flashing red light when they got home to know they’re popular: “It’s very important for human beings to feel they are popular and well liked amongst a large group of people that we don’t care for,” he noted.

“The phone machine is like this relationship respirator keeping these marginal, braindead relationships alive. We all do it. Why? So when we come home, we see that little flashing red light…people need that.”

Jerry Seinfeld Is Being Sued for Allegedly Selling a Fake Porsche

Jerry Seinfeld is being sued by the company Fica Frio Limited for allegedly selling them a 1958 Porsche that turned out to be fake.

The comedian sold the car at auction for $1.54 million in March 2016, including the 10 percent commission for the auction house.

After the company discovered that the car was allegedly fake, Seinfeld reportedly apologized and promised a full refund, according to the Associated Press.

Seinfeld‘s lawyer says, “He has asked Fica Frio for evidence to substantiate the allegations. Fica Frio ignored Jerry and instead filed this frivolous lawsuit.” He added that the comedian “is willing to do what’s right and fair, and we are confident the court will support the need for an outside evaluator to examine the provenance of the car.”

Fica Frio Limited is seeking unspecified damages, including the cost of the purchase.
