America Divided is an EPIX original limited docu-series executive produced by Norman Lear, Shonda Rhimes and Common, featuring narratives around inequality in education, housing, healthcare, labor, criminal justice and the political system — all woven into an eight-story, five-part series.
Jesse Williams has broken his silence regarding a petition to get him fired from his starring role on Grey’s Anatomy.
Some people called for the 34-year-old actor to lose his job over alleged “racist, hate speech against law enforcement and white people” during his powerful acceptance speech for the Humanitarian Award at the 2016 BET Awards.
“Because you keep incessantly promoting their cowardly intolerance! Not a single sane sentence in their claim. NotOne,” Jessetweeted.
The petition urged for Jesse to be fired for his “racist, hate speech against law enforcement and white people at the BET awards.” The petition has almost 7,000 signatures at the time of publication.
“Do not promote empty people & their tantrums. Pure clickbait to gain followers, attention & money, for themselves, not you. Never you,” Jesse wrote on Twitter this past weekend, seemingly in response to the petition.
Shonda got wind of the petition, and tweeted, “Um, people? Boo don’t need a petition. #shondalandrules.”
