Jessica Chastain Praises BFF Jess Weixler for Sharing Her Harvey Weinstein Story

Jessica Chastain and Jess Weixler hit the red carpet while attending the 2017 Hammer Museum Gala on Saturday night (October 14) in Los Angeles.

The BFFs took to social media that day to talk about Harvey Weinstein. Jess shared her own experience with the disgraced producer and Jessica reposted the story and praised her friend for opening up.

“I’ll say I am very grateful I was warned. I had multiple women protecting me with stories. There were several years of Harvey propositioning me, combined with requests for meetings about scripts, and talk of what directors he could introduce me to,” Jess wrote. “Thank goodness I heard enough not to go. Grabbing my arm at crowded parties and telling me my fiancé wasn’t invited to be at Cannes when we were there promoting Rigby. Being told he wouldn’t be able to get into events if he came. The accounts I’ve heard of what happened to others are devastating. In a time when the press killed stories and DAs ignored evidence, there was an underground network of women protecting women. And I’m just so grateful to the women who warned and protected me.”

Jessica and Jess worked together on The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, which was distributed by The Weinstein Company.

“Much love to you sister ❤. Thank you for sharing your story with the world. You are a warrior,” Jessica wrote.

Jessica Chastain Defends Matt Damon Amid Weinstein Controversy

Jessica Chastain is speaking out to defend her friend and former The Martian co-star Matt Damon after it was alleged that he helped disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein cover up a story about his alleged misconduct.

The Oscar-nominated actress tweeted out an article in which Matt denied trying to kill the story and she voiced her support for the actor.

“I believe that Matt was manipulated. I’ve spent time with him on The Martian and he’s a really good guy,” Jessica tweeted.

Matt has admitted that he was asked by Weinstein to talk to a reporter about a negative story, but that he was not aware it had to do with the producer’s alleged misconduct.

Jessica has been outspoken about the Weinstein scandal and her support for the women who have come forward. “I was warned from the beginning. The stories were everywhere. To deny that is to create an environment for it to happen again,” she tweeted on Monday.

Lena Dunham & Jessica Chastain Reflect on Offensive Seth MacFarlane Song at Oscars 2013

In the wake of the ongoing Harvey Weinstein scandal, Lena Dunham and Jessica Chastain are reflecting on another uncomfortable moment for women in Hollywood.

When writer Jody Rosen recalled Seth MacFarlane‘s “We Saw Your Boobs” number at the 2013 Oscars, Lena added that she was “still haunted nightly” by the song.

“Yes. They asked me to be a part of that sketch and I declined. Not interested in reducing women to their anatomy. Ugh. It was terrible,” Jessica responded.

“Thank God. Also, when I show my breasts onscreen it’s my ART doofus. Just like cartoons making penis jokes are your art, sir,” Lena wrote back to Jessica.

Laura spoke about wanting to play relatable women in movies.

“In my twenties, the characters I was asked to play were limited by, well, she’s just a girl—she doesn’t mean it or she doesn’t know who she is. So I’m starting to play women who just don’t know how to do it—they’re not girls, but they haven’t figured it out, still. That’s so relatable! I’m having the time of my life,” she said.

FYI: Laura is wearing an Unravel coat and Stella McCartney jumpsuit. Jessica is wearing Celine.

'It' Director Would Love Jessica Chastain to Play Adult Beverly!

Jessica Chastain is a huge fan of the new horror movie It and if the stars align, she might get to play adult Beverly in the sequel!

The two-time Oscar-nominated actress worked with It director Andy Muschietti on his movie Mama a few years ago.

When Variety mentioned to Andy that Jessica looks like young Beverly actress Sophia Lillis, he said, “I don’t know, does she? [Laughs] Jessi is an amazing actress and very good friend and I would love her to play Beverly.”

“She loves the movie and it feels like the planets are aligned in that sense, but we still have to make that happen,” he added. “There are a lot of ideas for the rest of the cast that I’m playing with, but it’s a bit too premature to say those names right now.”

We think Jessica would be the perfect choice for adult Beverly!
