Jessica St. Clair is opening up about her secret battle with breast cancer and how she “kicked its ass.”
The 40-year-old Playing House star penned a touching letter for Stand Up to Cancer, revealing she was diagnosed with “the big C” in 2015.
“On September 15, 2015, I was diagnosed with stage 2b estrogen positive breast cancer. I was 38 years old, with no family history (that I knew of at the time),” she wrote.
Jessica added that she had a “one-step reconstruction” procedure which allowed her to have a mastectomy and have new implants put in during the same surgery.
After the surgery, she underwent 16 rounds of chemotherapy, during which she continued to film Playing House.
Now, her character on Playing House will be diagnosed with the same disease in hopes of helping others who are struggling.
“We hope that by sharing my experience…that somebody who is going through this process or helping their loved one through it might feel less alone, and might even have some better information for their cancer care. Because that’s really all that matters at the end of the day, right? That we try and be that bridge for each other,” Jessica wrote.
