Jimmy Kimmel Refuses to Give Maggie Smith Her Emmy

Jimmy Kimmel set up a rule at the beginning of the 2016 Emmy Awards that if anyone wins and is not in attendance, they are not allowed to get their award… and it was all because of Maggie Smith.

The legendary actress has won three Emmys throughout her career, but she has never been at the show to accept the awards.

Well, Maggie won again this year in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category for her work on Downton Abbey.

After the win, Jimmy ran out on stage and announced that he will be putting the award into the “lost and found” and not be sending it to Maggie. Of course, it’s all a joke!

Jimmy Kimmel Invites Bill Cosby to the Stage at the Emmys 2016

Jimmy Kimmel had several jokes up his sleeve at the 2016 Emmy Awards held at the Microsoft Theater on Sunday (September 18) in Los Angeles.

The 48-year-old comedian and host of the show tonight gave the crowd a shock when he introduced an unexpected award presenter.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Bill Cosby,” Jimmy announced.

After some gasps and stunned looks from the audience, Jimmy clarified, “He’s not really here. I just wanted to see what you guys would do.”

Bill, of course, was definitely not at the show tonight, as he faces trial next year for numerous alleged sexual assault allegations.

Jimmy Kimmel Blames Mark Burnett for Donald Trump

Jimmy Kimmel hits the stage while opening the show at the 2016 Emmy Awards held at the Microsoft Theater on Sunday (September 18) in Los Angeles.

The 48-year-old comedian is hosting the show this evening and during his monologue, he blamed The Apprentice producer Mark Burnett for giving Donald Trump the platform he needed to reach his presidential campaign.

“Television can also tear us apart. If it wasn’t for television would Donald Trump be running for president?” Jimmy asked the crowd. “No. He’d be home right now quietly rubbing up against his wife Malaria [sic] while she pretends to be asleep.”

“Thanks to Mark Burnett, we don’t have to watch reality shows anymore. We’re living in one,” Jimmy said. “Who do you have lined up to fill the spot on the Supreme Court? Miley Cyrus or Cee-Lo?… If Donald Trump gets elected, and he builds that wall, the first person we’re throwing over is Mark Burnett.”

Jimmy Kimmel Channels Jon Snow & Marcia Clark for 'THR'

Jimmy Kimmel channels fan-favorite characters Jon Snow, Marcia Clarke, and more for THR‘s new issue.

Here’s what the 48-year-old talk show host and Emmy host had to share:

On if he thought he’d be doing Jimmy Kimmel Live for this long: “No, no, never. Never, never, never would I have imagined I’d be doing it this long.”

On how he keeps going: It’s like being an athlete in that when you’re young you have a ton of energy and a lot of enthusiasm and you kind of float on that, on that athletic ability or whatever it is. And then as you get older you figure out how to do things, you become more conservative in the way you approach things. I know I can write a six- or seven-page monologue in two hours. I know I can. I know I could probably do it in an hour if I really, really had to. And so you have a confidence and also a routine. And then on top of it you have people around you who know what they’re doing. Whenever there is a new late-night host I always will call and say — if I get in touch with them, I’ll say you have to have at least a few people who’ve done this before because if everybody is learning it’s going to be an uphill battle.

On having both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump on his show:
“First of all, our objective every night is comment on what’s going on in the news. So at a time like this, and of course these political seasons are getting longer and longer and longer, what’s going on in the news and what people are talking about. Really people at dinner are talking about two things: They’re talking about Donald Trump and they are talking about what they are watching on Netflix. Those seem to be the only conversations that are being had.”
