Joan Rivers' Personal Doctor Denies Taking Selfie During Procedure

Joan Rivers‘ personal doctor is refuting stories that she took a selfie while she was under anesthesia in the operating room, TMZ reports.

The 81-year-old comedienne received an endoscopy at the Yorkville Endoscopy Clinic and reportedly also had a biopsy on her vocal cords, however, the private doctor, revealed to be ENT specialist Dr. Gwen Korovin, denies that as well. It is unknown if another procedure was also done on Joan.

The clinic’s Dr Lawrence Cohen performed the actual endoscopy on Joan, but is currently not practicing following her death.

Joan Rivers' Doctor Took a Selfie While She Was Under Anesthesia (Report)

New details are surfacing about what happened when Joan Rivers was having surgery and a source has revealed to CNN that her doctor took a selfie inside the operating room while she was under anesthesia.

The 81-year-old comedian was scheduled to receive just an endoscopy at the Yorkville Endoscopy clinic, but after the clinic’s medical doctor Lawrence Cohen finished the procedure, an unidentified doctor performed an unplanned biopsy on her vocal cords.

Investigators think that Joan‘s vocal cords began to swell during the biopsy, which caused oxygen to stop flowing to her lungs. This led to her going into cardiac arrest.

Dr. Cohen “is not currently performing procedures…nor is he currently serving as medical director” following Joan‘s death. Despite this, the clinic denies that the vocal cord biopsy was performed at the clinic.
