Robert de Niro Might Join Joaquin Phoenix in 'Joker' Movie!

Robert de Niro is in talks to join Joaquin Phoenix in the upcoming standalone Joker movie!

The 74-year-old actor would play a “talk-show host who plays a part in driving Phoenix’s character to go mad and become the Clown Prince of Crime,” according to Variety.

The movie would be an origin story to show how the Joker becomes the notorious villain in the Batman universe.

The film is written and directed by Todd Phillips and currently has an October 4, 2019 release date. Stay tuned as we find out more!

Zazie Beetz In Talks to Join Joker Movie with Joaquin Phoenix

Zazie Beetz may be joining the cast of the upcoming Joker origin movie starring Joaquin Phoenix!

The 27-year-old actress is best known for her work in the FX series Atlanta and the movie Deadpool 2.

Zazie‘s character is described as “a single mother who catches the interest of the man who will become the ‘clown prince of crime,’” according to THR.

The movie is set to be a darker take on the character and the film will begin shooting this September in New York. A release date has been scheduled for October 4, 2019.

The Joker is coming.

The upcoming Todd Phillips-directed standalone movie, starring Joaquin Phoenix as the iconic villain, will hit theaters on October 4, 2019 according to Warner Bros. and DC Comics on Wednesday (July 18).

The movie’s title, Joker, was also revealed at the same time as Comic-Con kicked off in San Diego.

Joaquin finalized the deal to play Batman’s arch-nemesis in June. The movie is being described as “exploration of a man disregarded by society [that] is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale,” according to THR.

The movie is set to begin production later in 2018, and is being considered “darker and more experimental in tone and content,” similar to a crime drama.

Rooney Mara and boyfriend Joaquin Phoenix hit the red carpet separate for the premiere of their new movie Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Away on Foot on Wednesday night (July 11) at the ArcLight Hollywood Theater in Hollywood, Calif.

The co-stars and real-life couple looked stylish in coordinating black outfits as they were joined at the premiere by their co-star Jack Black and director Gus Van Sant.

Joaquin Phoenix's Joker Origin Movie Gets Greenlight!

Joaquin Phoenix is set to play the Joker in an upcoming origin movie for Warner Bros.

The film will be directed by The Hangover franchise’s Todd Phillips and will be a standalone film separate from Jared Leto‘s role in the DC Cinematic Universe.

Leto is still set to play the Joker in the Suicide Squad sequel, as well as a separate standalone movie.

Phoenix‘s film is being described as an “exploration of a man disregarded by society [that] is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale,” according to THR. The movie will be darker and more experimental than other comic book superhero movies and will have a much lower budget at around $55 million.
