Mystery Science Theater 3000, which was also known by the abbreviation MST3K, is about to get a reboot thanks to a Kickstarter campaign that series creator Joel Hodgson just launched!
The cult favorite show started on a local Minnesota television station in 1988 and later aired on Comedy Central for six seasons until it was canceled in 1997. The Sci-Fi Channel then picked it up for another three seasons until it finally ended in 1999.
The show followed a man and his robots, who were trapped aboard the “Satellite of Love” and forced by mad scientists to watch some of the worst movies ever made.
If $2 million is raised, three episodes can be produced. For every extra $1.1 million raised, another three episodes can be produced. The goal is to raise $5.5 million for a total of twelve episodes.
