Brenton Thwaites Admired Johnny Depp 'For So Long' Before Working Together on 'Pirates 5'

Brenton Thwaites was excited to be part of a star-studded cast for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The 27-year-old actor recently gushed over working with Johnny Depp and Javier Bardem on the film.

PHOTOS: Check out the latest pics of Brenton Thwaites

Johnny and Javier are actors I’ve admired for so long in my career, for years and years, since I was a boy,” Brenton told WWD. “To get the chance to see them work together was amazing. When I was in a scene with these guys, you learn a lot, you feel a lot, and you learn to improvise and be irreverent. When you’re watching greats like Geoffrey Rush and Johnny Depp work together, it’s like watching a play that won’t happen again. It’s a real gift.”

Pictured: Brenton stops by the AOL Build Series studios with co-star Kaya Scodelario on Thursday (May 25) in New York City.

FYI: Brenton is wearing a J.Lindeberg leather jacket. More Here! »

Is There a 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' End Credits Scene?

Great news for Pirates of the Caribbean 5, aka Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales fans – there is a post-credits scene!

The new film finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack (Johnny Depp) feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.

Johnny Depp & Javier Bardem Join 'Dark Universe' Monster Franchise!

Universal Pictures is building a new franchise of classic monster characters and the movies have been given the label of the Dark Universe!

It was just announced that Johnny Depp will play The Invisible Man and Javier Bardem will play Frankenstein’s Monster in upcoming films.

The Mummy, in theaters June 9, is the first film in the Dark Universe and it features Tom Cruise as solider of fortune Nick Morton, Russell Crowe as Dr. Henry Jekyll, and Sofia Boutella as the title character.

At its organizing principle, Dark Universe films are connected by a mysterious multi-national organization known as Prodigium. Led by the enigmatic and brilliant Dr. Henry Jekyll, Prodigium’s mission is to track, study and—when necessary—destroy evil embodied in the form of monsters in our world. Working outside the aegis of any government, and with practices concealed by millennia of secrecy, Prodigium protects the public from knowledge of the evil that exists just beyond the thin membrane of civilized society…and will go to any length to contain it.

Oscar winner Bill Condon will direct the next Dark Universe film, Bride of Frankenstein, which will hit theaters in February 2019.

“They asked me to do it and I did it, I thought it was gonna be grand,” Johnny told Jimmy. “The boat would come around the corner, you could kind of see it and then I’d go “Hello!,” and start speaking to them. Even speaking to them specifically, “you in the purple shirt,” right? Nothing. It was just them on their phones, because I think they’d already seen Captain Jack a few times on the ride.”
