Julianna Margulies, Claire Danes, Sofia Vergara, and Michelle Dockery grace the cover of Vanity Fair‘s TV issue.

The actresses from The Good Wife, Homeland, Modern Family, and Downton Abbey, respectively, posed for photographer Norman Jean Roy, while the mag’s culture critic, James Wolcott, explored “the evolutionary advantage behind television’s takeover of popular culture.”

“TV is where the action is, the addictions forged, the dream machine operating on all cylinders. [Where] movies divide and stratify; television, like sports, is the democratic includer,” he notes.

Also featured in the issue: cast members from The Big Bang Theory, Revenge, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and Shameless.

The 45-year-old actress, who wore a Naeem Khan dress and Lorraine Schwartz jewels, is nominated tonight in the Best Actress in a Drama category for her work on The Good Wife!

She’s up against Claire Danes (Homeland), Mireille Enos (The Killing), Madeleine Stowe (Revenge), and Callie Thorne (Necessary Roughness).

Julianna Margulies arrives at the 2011 Emmy Awards held at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Sunday (September 18) in Los Angeles.

The 45-year-old The Good Wife actress wore a Giorgio Armani Privé white, luminous silk gown, paired with Palladium diamond studs.

“I shouldn’t be wiping your lips while wearing a white dress,” Julianna told Ryan Seacrest, who got a smooch from Kathy Griffin.

Julianna is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and will also be presenting the Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series award.

Florence Welch shows off her long draped Yves Saint Laurent dress at the MET Ball held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (May 2) in New York City.

Julianna Margulies and husband Keith Lieberthal go for a stroll through the Soho neighborhood of New York City with their son Kieran on Sunday (March 20).

The 44-year-old actress will be joined in an upcoming episode of The Good Wife by Mad Men‘s Aaron Staton, who will play a “hungry, Terminator-like attorney with a disarming smile,” according to TV Guide.

Julianna Margulies stops by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday (February 1).

The 44-year-old actress chatted about her SAG win for her role on The Good Wife and explained why she thanked her in-laws during her acceptance speech.

“No one has ever thanked their in-laws on public television … I really meant it. I really love my in laws. And I’m so proud of how they raised their two sons. My husband [Keith Lieberthal, who's a lawyer] and his brother are just remarkable, good human beings,” she told Ellen.

Julianna, who married Keith in 2007, said she met him at a dinner party and their connection was “immediate.”

“I feel bad because people objectify him and they’re like, ‘Oh, your husband is so hot.’ The truth is, he is unbelievably bright and smart and went to Harvard Law,” she dished.

“Whatever. He’s very attractive,” Ellen said.

“He’s attractive,” Julianna replied back.
