Jewel & Kara DioGuardi: Platinum Hit!

Jewel and Kara DioGuardi chat up their new reality competition series, Platinum Hit, at the TCA panel on Thursday (January 13) in Pasadena, Calif.

The 36-year-old Foolish Games singer will serve as the host for the show while the 40-year-old former American Idol judge will be the head judge. The show will be a singer-songwriter competition that will follow twelve musicians as they write and perform their own songs!

Kara DioGuardi Set to Pen Memoir

Former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi is set to write a memoir through HarperCollins!

A Helluva High Note: Surviving Life, Love, and American Idol will be released in late April of 2011 and will include Kara‘s thoughts on joining – and leaving – the behemoth TV talent show.

FYI: In late October, it was announced that Kara will team up with Jewel to star in a new Bravo singing/songwriting competition, Going Platinum.

Kara DioGuardi and Jewel are set to star in Going Platinum on Bravo!

The singer-songwriter competition show will follow twelve musicians as they write songs in a variety of genres and perform them!

Unlike American Idol, though, the judges will rank contestants instead of the home audience.

Kara, a former American Idol judge, will serve as head judge while Jewel will be the host and give contestants feedback, too.

The winner of Going Platinum will win a $100,000 cash price, a publishing deal with Sony and a recording contract!

Kara DioGuardi is stepping down as an American Idol judge.

“I felt like I won the lottery when I joined American Idol two years ago, but I feel like now is the best time to leave IDOL,” said Kara, 39. “I am very proud to have been associated with American Idol – it has truly been an amazing experience. I am grateful to FOX, FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, as well as the cast, crew and contestants, for all they have given to me. I look forward to my next challenge, and want to thank everyone who has supported me. All the best to everyone on Season 10!”

Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are rumored to join the judges’ table.

'American Idol' Cast Gets The Simpsons Treatment

Randy Jackson, Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres will invite Springfield bartender Moe Syzslak to join them on the Idol stage, according to People!

“Judge Me Tender,” starring the Idol cast, will air May 23 on FOX.

FYI: This isn’t Simon‘s first time as a Simpsons guest! He made a cameo on the show back in 2004, playing an admissions screener at a Springfield pre-nursery school where Homer and Marge hoped to send Maggie.
