There is so much talent on Broadway this season and the Tony-nominated actresses from musicals stepped out at the Meet the Nominees Press Junket this week in New York City!
Miss Saigon‘s Eva Noblezada, War Paint‘s Patti LuPone and Christine Ebersole, and The Great Comet‘s Denee Benton are all nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical. Also nominated but not in attendance at the event was Hello Dolly‘s Bette Midler.
This race is very exciting as it’s pitting three theater legends – Lupone, Ebersole, and Midler – against two newcomers – Noblezada and Benton.
Eva was selected for the lead role in Miss Saigon after being discovered at the National Musical Theatre Awards a few years ago. At the age of 18, she starred in the London production of the musical and now she’s starring in the show on Broadway!
You may recognize Denee from her work on the Lifetime series UnREAL. Make sure to go see her in her Broadway debut opposite Josh Groban.
The nominees in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical category were also at the event – Hello Dolly‘s Kate Baldwin, Falsettos‘ Stephanie J. Block, Come from Away‘s Jenn Colella, Dear Evan Hansen‘s Rachel Bay Jones, and Anastasia‘s Mary Beth Peil.
