Katharine McPhee Picks Her Choice for the Best Musical Within 'Smash' - 'Bombshell' or 'Hit List'?!

There were two musicals that were made within the NBC series Smash and Katharine McPhee‘s character Karen Cartwright was part of both of them – Bombshell and Hit List!

In a reunion on Stars in the House this weekend, Kat opened up about the two musicals while chatting with co-star Megan Hilty, executive producers Neil Meron and Bob Greenblatt, composers Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, and hosts Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley.

This week, the 2015 one-night-only Bombshell in Concert special will be aired for audiences around the world for the very first time. If you didn’t know, Marc and Scott wrote all of the songs for Bombshell while Hit List‘s music was written by many different artists.

“We didn’t have a Marc and Scott for the other show, which was called… I don’t remember what it was called,” Kat said during the interview. Someone chimed in and said “HIT LIST!”

Hit List!” Kat replied. “We had to basically just grab different writers and try to make a musical. It was no Bombshell, let’s just put it that way.”

Earlier this month, Kat did a special performance with another former Smash co-star!

People will be live-streaming the Bombshell concert on Wednesday night as a fundraiser for The Actors Fund. You can watch the “Let Me Be Your Star” clip below!
