John Travolta is opening up about the emotional conversation that he had with his 10-year-old son Benjamin after his wife Kelly Preston died last year.
Kelly died in July 2020 at the age of 57 after a two-year battle with breast cancer.
John appeared on the latest episode of Kevin Hart‘s Peacock talk show Hart to Heart, where he discussed how his family is coping following the massive loss.

John Travolta is opening up about life after Kelly Preston‘s death.
In a new interview with Esquire Mexico, the 67-year-old Grease actor shared what he learned about grieving the death of his wife.
“I learned that mourning someone, living in grief, is very personal,” John said. “Grief is personal and finding your own path is what could lead to healing. It’s different than someone else’s journey.”
John continued, “The most important thing you can do to help people going through grief is allow them the space to live it and not complicate their journey with your own.”
John announced back in July 2020 that Kelly had died following a battle with breast cancer. She was 57-years-old.
“Like, imagine if you lose someone and you’re very sad at the funeral, and another person comes up to you who is feeling even sadder and then doesn’t leave space for you to feel your grief,” he added. “It becomes two ships plummeting to the bottom together. That’s my experience. Because, although it’s nice to have company, sometimes it turns you into someone helping the other person instead of putting in the work of overcoming the sense of loss and grief.”
“You have no idea how many people have come up to me… and afterward I’ve felt saturated with everyone else’s pain that I didn’t know what to do,” John revealed. “The first thing you should do while going through grief is go somewhere where you can truly mourn, with no interruptions.”

The 66-year-old Grease actor took to his Instagram on Thursday (November 26) to thank fans for all of their support over the past few months after the death of his wife Kelly Preston.
“I just wanted to take this moment to thank each and every one of you for supporting me in such an incredible way this year,” John shared in the video. “Happy Thanksgiving and always love.”
This is the first Thanksgiving John celebrated without Kelly, who died four months ago after a battle with breast cancer.
John and Kelly married back in 1991. She is survived by their kids Ella, 20, and Benjamin, 10. Their son Jett died at 16-years-old back in 2009.
John Travolta is remembering Kelly Preston.
The 66-year-old Grease actor took to Instagram on Tuesday (October 13) to honor his late wife on what would have been her 58th birthday.
“Happy Birthday hon! I found this photo of my mom and dad‘s wedding,” John wrote. “It was nice to see ours alongside theirs. All my love, John.”
John also shared a photo from his and Kelly‘s wedding along with a photo from his parents’ wedding.
Kelly sadly died back in July after a private, two-year battle with breast cancer.
John and Kelly married back in 1991. She is survived by their kids Ella, 20, and Benjamin, 9. Their son Jett died at 16-years-old back in 2009.
Ella also took to her Instagram to remember Kelly on her birthday.
“Happy Birthday Mama, I love you so much❤️❤️❤️” Ella wrote along with a throwback photo with her mom from when she was younger.

The 66-year-old actor shared the clip on his Instagram and mentioned how dancing was one of Kelly‘s favorite things to do.
“My daughter @ella.travolta and I dancing in memory of momma. One of Kelly’s favorite things, dancing with me,” John captioned the video.
Kelly died last month at the age of 57 after a two-year battle with breast cancer, which she kept private until her death.
Ella wrote a touching tribute in memory of her mom shortly after the sad news was announced back in July.
