Kelsy Karter, the singer who went viral for tattooing Harry Styles‘ face on her own face, has revealed that the tattoo was fake all along.

The tattoo was part of a promotional stunt for her song “Harry,” which she recorded over six months ago and was inspired by the One Direction singer.

In a video titled, “How I rocked the entire world for $300,” Kelsy details the story behind the tattoo.

“What would the rock legends that inspired me have done in 2019?” she questioned before coming up with the idea for the tattoo. “To pull this off, we needed a celebrity tattoo artist to make it look real… He traced Harry‘s 2017 Rolling Stone cover, applied it to my face, and then a special FX makeup artist did her thing.”

“BTW. We know it looked ridiculous. That was the point,” Kelsy added.

“The tattoo was not real,” Kelsy said at the end of the video. “I love that Harry has introduced rock to a new generations of fans. Plus he’s nice to look at… This has always been about Rock & Roll. ‘Harry’ is an anthem for the fans. The tattoo is gone. All that’s left is the music. Which is what my rockstar team and I had planned all along.”

New Zealand singer Kelsy Karter is speaking out about why she chose to get a face tattoo featuring Harry Styles.

If you don’t know, the 25-year-old entertainer debuted the ink over the weekend.

Speaking to The Edge Afternoon Show, she explained that she’s “a big fan of Harry and I’m not afraid to express it and I honestly don’t know how to do anything half-arsed.”

“As a fellow musician, I really respect what he’s doing for rock ‘n’ roll. I’m a female in the modern day movement of rock ‘n’ roll and he’s exposed the kids to sounds they might have not otherwise heard. Because he came from the pop world and did a rock ‘n’ roll album, it’s opened doors for people like me. I really respect what he’s doing and love what he’s doing — and he’s nice to look at,” she added.

Kelsy also explained why she chose to get his face tattooed on her face.

“I just wear my heart on my cheek and I couldn’t really control what went on from there,” Kelsy added.

The up-and-coming singer got a tattoo of Harry Styles‘ face on her own face. The tattoo was done by Los Angeles-based tattoo artist Romeo Lacoste, who shared a video of the inking process on Instagram.

“mama, look what i made me do,” Kelsy captioned the photo on her Instagram account.

Kelsy is clearly a fan of Harry‘s as the first post on her Instagram page is a video from one of his concerts.
