The following day, Kesha released her first new single in four years – “Praying” – and announced that her new album Rainbow will be released on August 11.

Kesha also released an emotional letter in Lena Dunham‘s Lenny Letter about her new album.

“I wrote this for myself,” Kesha writes. “’Cause I was in a really sad, lonely, dark place … I remember sitting on the floor, not knowing what to do with all my emotions, and the only thing I knew what to do was write a song. And this song was like a promise letter to myself that we were gonna make it.”

Kesha went on to say that she named the album Rainbow because “the shitstorm’s over – and this is the beginning of the good stuff.”

“Sorry for being emotional,” Kesha continued. “But I’m not actually sorry. ’Cause that’s what this record is about – being vulnerable. This is what I am.”

Kesha: 'Praying' - Music Video, Stream, Download & Lyrics Here!

As promised, Kesha has officially returned with a brand new song called “Praying“!

The track is the first solo music release from the 30-year-old musician after a long legal battle with longtime collaborator, producer Dr. Luke.

“‘Praying,’ my first single in almost four years, comes out today. I have channeled my feelings of severe hopelessness and depression, I’ve overcome obstacles, and I have found strength in myself even when it felt out of reach,” Kesha expressed in Lena Dunham‘s weekly feminist newsletter, Lenny Letter.

“I’ve found what I had thought was an unobtainable place of peace,” Kesha added. “This song is about coming to feel empathy for someone else even if they hurt you or scare you. It’s a song about learning to be proud of the person you are even during low moments when you feel alone. It’s also about hoping everyone, even someone who hurt you, can heal.”

If you didn’t know, the track was produced by Ryan Lewis.

Dr. Luke & Kesha's Mom Release Joint Statement on Ending Tennessee Case

Kesha‘s mom Pebe Sebert has released a joint statement with Dr. Luke about why they are dismissing the Tennessee litigation between them.

Dr. Luke was suing Pebe for defamation and tortuous interference in Tennessee, claiming that she schemed with her daughter to smear his reputation by accusing him of rape.

Pebe filed a counter-suit with claims of intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress based on the abuse being alleged.

Dr. Luke vigorously disputes and denies that he ever raped Kesha Sebert, and he is asserting claims of defamation in a New York court against Kesha Sebert for making statements to the contrary, which statements Dr. Luke adamantly maintains are false,” the new statement reads.

Pebe admits she has no firsthand personal knowledge of the events occurring on the night of the alleged rape. Pebe was not present that night,” the statement continues. “At that time, Pebe was in Nashville, and Kesha was in Los Angeles. The dispute between Kesha and Dr. Luke about the events of that night is the subject of the New York case, and will be decided in that case. Accordingly, all parties believe it is appropriate to dismiss this Tennessee case and focus their attention on the New York case.”
