Ellen Pompeo flashes a smile while leaving the Martyn Lawrence-Bullard Design studio on Thursday (May 3) in West Hollywood, Calif.

The 42-year-old actress’s Grey’s Anatomy co-star, Jesse Williams, recently chatted with EW about a loss that fans should prepare for.

“I think that’s the real beauty of our show, that the fans get so attached to the characters. It’s going to absolutely matter,” Jesse said.

“People were crying all through the table read,” he added. “It’s very jarring. It’s personal in that it feels like a personal loss. It’s certainly similar.”

Wedding bells are ringing for two Grey’s Anatomy characters – and it all goes down in the first episode back on ABC!

Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) will marry in the September 23 premiere episode of the show – and it looks like the ceremony will happen in Meredith’s house!

EW‘s Michael Ausiello first broke the news of the characters’ wedding back in late August.

Scottish actor Kevin McKidd, who headlined the time-traveling drama Journeyman, is close to signing onto the ABC medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.

According to EW, McKidd, 34, will play a doctor who arrives at Seattle Grace after a stint in Iraq.

In other Grey’s news, according to E!, T.R. Knight, Katherine Heigl and Ellen Pompeo were spotted eating cupcakes and laughing during marketing impresarios Mike McGuiness and Kari Feinstein‘s birthday party at Simon L.A.
