Connie Britton Reacts to Friend Kirsten Gillibrand Dropping Out of 2020 Presidenital Race

Connie Britton has nothing but love and support for her friend Kirsten Gillibrand.

The 52-year-old New York Senator took to Twitter on Wednesday (August 28) to announce that she is dropping out of the 2020 Presidential race.

“Today, I am ending my campaign for president,” Kirsten tweeted along with a video announcement. “I am so proud of this team and all we’ve accomplished. But I think it’s important to know how you can best serve. To our supporters: Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Now, let’s go beat Donald Trump and win back the Senate.”

Shortly after, Connie reacted to the news of her former college roommate dropping out of the race.

“To my friend @SenGillibrand I want to say: thank you,” Connie tweeted. “You worked valiantly and intentionally, speaking so much truth to how we need to proceed as a nation. You have elevated the conversation, served with integrity, and will continue to. Bravely…with thanks and admiration.”

Here's How to Watch the First 2020 Democratic Debate

Democrats are going head-to-head in the first 2020 presidential debate!

The first Democratic debates will take place over two nights as the 20 candidates cover pressing topics and campaign strategies for viewers across the country.

The first debate happens TONIGHT (June 26) from 9-11 p.m. ET on NBC, MSNBC, and Telemundo. The second will air Thursday at the same time.

NBCNews.com, MSNBC.com and YouTube have live feeds of the events as well.

Wednesday’s debate includes Sen. Elizabeth Warren, former Rep. Beto O’Rourke, Sen. Cory Booker, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, Gov. Jay Inslee, Mayor Bill de Blasio, former Rep. John Delaney, Rep. Tim Ryan, and former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro.

Thursday will feature former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Kamala Harris, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Sen. Michael Bennet, Rep. Eric Swalwell, former Gov. John Hickenlooper, author Marianne Williamson, and businessman Andrew Yang.

Lester Holt, Rachel Maddow, Chuck Todd, Savannah Guthrie, and Jose Diaz-Balart will serve as moderators.

Each debate is two hours long, consisting of five parts with four commercial breaks. Candidates have one minute to respond to questions and 30 seconds for follow-ups.

As there are so many speakers, the candidates will only make closing statements and not opening remarks.

The next debates will happen on July 30 and 31.

During a recent interview, Connie revealed that she and Kirsten went to college together and dormed together when they were studying aboard in China.

“Go Kirsten go! I’m so proud of you,” Connie recently tweeted, endorsing Kirsten. “You’ve shown me for years how brave you are and now it will be a thrill to watch you run. You have my support.”
