'Lego Batman' & 'Fifty Shades' Beat 'The Great Wall' at President's Day Weekend Box Office

The Lego Batman Movie took the No. 1 spot at this holiday weekend’s box office with an additional $35 million.

Starring the voices of Will Arnett, Michael Cera, and Rosario Dawson, the animated flick crossed the the $100 million mark domestically and is projected to gross $45 million after the Monday numbers come in, according to THR.

Taking second place was Fifty Shades Darker, starring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, earning $20.9 million for a domestic total of $92.9 million.

Coming in at No. 3 was Matt Damon‘s new movie The Wall with $18.1 million.

Rounding out the top five were John Wick: Chapter Two and the new Ice Cube flick Fist Fight, which earned $16.5 million and $12.2 million, respectively.

Meanwhile, Dane DeHaan and Mia Goth‘s film Cure for Wellness grossed an estimated $4.2 million.

Final numbers will be released for the four-day President’s Day weekend on Monday.

'Lego Batman Movie' & 'Fifty Shades' Will Lead the Weekend's Box Office Again

The box office will have a repeat with its leading movies this weekend as The Lego Batman Movie and Fifty Shades Darker are set to top the President’s Day weekend.

The Lego Batman Movie grossed an estimated $7.6 million on Friday (February 17) for a projected four-day weekend of $38 million to $40 million.

Fifty Shades Darker brought in $6.8 million on Friday and the film is looking at $22 million to $25 million for the four days.

Matt Damon‘s The Great Wall, which has been a massive hit in China, earned $6.8 million on Friday and will likely earn around $19 million for the four-day weekend.

Ice Cube and Charlie Day‘s comedy Fist Fight is projected to gross $13 million for the four day weekend and Dane DeHaan‘s A Cure for Wellness should take in around $5 million, according to THR.

'Lego Batman Movie' Dominates 'Fifty Shades Darker' at Weekend Box Office

The Lego Batman Movie was the most lucrative movie at the box office this weekend, earning $55.6 million total.

The Will Arnett-starrer ended up selling about $93 million total in tickets around the world.

Taking second at the box office was Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan‘s Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey. The film took in $46.8 million domestically, and another $100.1 million worldwide. The first movie made $570 million worldwide.

John Wick: Chapter Two earned $30.0 million in its opening weekend.

Rounding out the top five are Split with $9.3 million and Hidden Figures at $8 million, EW reports.

'Fifty Shades Darker' Wins Friday Box Office, 'Lego Batman Movie' to Top Weekend

Fifty Shades Darker is off to a strong start at the box office and the movie scored a win on its opening day!

The new movie starring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson pulled in $21.5 million on Friday and its projected to make $48.3 million for the opening weekend, according to Deadline. This is better than expected and the film scored a B+ CinemaScore, compared to Fifty Shades of Grey‘s C+, so its chances of having a longer run are much higher.

The Lego Batman Movie came in second place on Friday with $15 million and the animated film is set to top the weekend with around $54.5 million.

Keanu ReevesJohn Wick 2 is also off to a strong start with $10.9 million for Friday and a projected $29.6 million for the full weekend. This is a 100% increase from the first film’s opening weekend, so it’s a big win for Lionsgate/Summit.

The new teaser trailer for The Lego Batman Movie has arrived, and it’s just as funny as the first!

In this trailer, Lego Batman (played by Will Arnett), talks with his butler, who then mocks how many Batman movies there have been!

Here’s a synopsis: There are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if Lego Batman wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, he may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
