Nate Parker Wins Audience Award for 'Birth of a Nation' at Sundance 2016

Nate Parker accepts the Audience Award: U.S. Dramatic for his film The Birth of a Nation during the awards ceremony for the 2016 Sundance Film Festival at Basin Recreation Field House on Saturday (January 30) in Park City, Utah.

The 36-year-old director recently told Vulture that presenting at Sundance sent him “through the roof” emotionally.

“The way the theater responded to different elements, it was like an orchestral movement,” Nate said. “Everything they did, they did together, whether it was laugh or cry or gasp or sit there in pin-drop silence. All of those things affected me because I felt like they were receiving it. It was actually being allowed into their soul.

Lena Dunham Says Lack of Diversity in Hollywood is a 'Serious Problem'

Lena Dunham is speaking out about Hollywood’s diversity issue, that was brought to light after the lack of nominations for diverse actors at this year’s Oscars.

“If the studio system is ignoring these voices then we have a very serious problem and they are and the fact is this dialogue and the promises that the Academy has made is the beginning of shifting that, but what really needs to happens is that people need to take notice and give resources to these voices,” Lena explained.

She added, “The idea that there aren’t enough diverse filmmakers or there aren’t enough woman filmmakers to give jobs to, it’s simply a fallacy and I know that because I’m here and I’m seeing the movies.”

Lena Dunham Slams Hillary Clinton Media Coverage: 'It's Rabidly Sexist'

Lena Dunham happily strikes a pose alongside Elizabeth Banks while attending Planned Parenthood’s Sex, Politics & Film Cocktail Reception held during the 2016 Sundance Film Festival at The Spur on Sunday (January 24) in Park City, UT.

The 29-year-old Girls star and Elizabeth, 41, were joined at the event by Chloe Sevigny, Natasha Lyonne, Alysia Reiner, Rose McGowan and musicians Tegan and Sara.

In a recent interview at the Variety Fandango Studio presented by Dockers at the Sundance Film Festival, Lena opened up about her dislike of Hillary Clinton‘s media coverage.

“The way that Hillary Clinton‘s been talked about in the media is so gendered and rabidly sexist in every single portrayal,” Lena expressed. “Whether it’s the attacks on her personal life or the adjectives that are used to describe her clothing, we have to do a full reexamination.”

That same day, Elizabeth was spotted arriving at Salt Lake City International Airport while Chloe, 41, was seen braving the cold with few friends around town.
