That evening, Lena took to her Twitter account to comment on the Supreme Court blocking a Texas law that had drastically reduced the number of abortion clinics.

“Thrilled the Supreme Court made the right choice. And my recent visit to Austin proved that Texan women won’t stop fighting no matter what,” Lena tweeted. “The Texas audience gave me permission to say “y’all” so I took the ball and I’m running with it!!”

Lena Dunham Opens Up About a College Date Rape Experience

Lena Dunham leaves the SiriusXM radio studios with a smile on her face on Wednesday (October 1) in New York City.

The 28-year-old Girls actress, who has been promoting her book “Not That Kind of Girl,” bravely opened up about a terrifying date rape experience she had in college.

“There were a few things in this book that I was terrified to put into the world,” she told NPR’s Terry Gross on Fresh Air. “The chapter about date rape in the book was a really, really terrifying thing for me to put into the world.”

“It was a painful experience physically and emotionally, and one I spent a long time trying to reconcile. At the time that it happened, it wasn’t something that I was able to be honest about,” Lena explained. “I was able to share pieces, but I sort of used the lens of humor, which has always been my default mode, to try to talk around it.”

“I had felt that something had happened and I remember thinking ‘Can I ever be the same?’… I was at a party, drunk, waiting for attention — and somehow that felt like such a shameful starting-off point that I didn’t know how to reconcile what had come after. But I knew that it wasn’t right and I knew in some way that this experience had been forced on me,” Lena said. “When I shared it with my best friend and she used the term ‘you were raped’ at the time, I sort of laughed at her and thought like, you know, what an ambulance-chasing drama queen. [I] later felt this incredible gratitude for her for giving me that, giving me that gift of that kind of certainty that she had.”

Lena Dunham Responds to Backlash, Will Compensate Her Tour Performers After All

Lena Dunham gets chatty talking about her new book “Not That Kind of Girl” on Good Morning America on Tuesday (September 30) in New York City.

The 28-year-old actress has been in hot water since it was revealed she was not paying the opening acts for her book tour.

“As an artist raised by artists, no one believes more than I do that creators should be fairly compensated for their work.” Lena tweeted in her defense. “This feature of the tour was meant to be a way to showcase local talent and I could not be more excited about it.”

However, after receiving tons of backlash from fans, websites, and fellow artists, Lena changed her mind.

Lena Dunham Transforms Into a Statue for 'NYT Magazine'

Lena Dunham is transformed into the bust of a statue for the cover of The New York Times Magazine‘s latest issue.

Here is what the 28-year-old Girls actress had to share with the mag:

On Gawker leaking book excerpts in December 2012: “They posted it with a list of 72 reasons I was the dumbest human on earth. It felt like such a violation to put my unedited work out into the world. As a writer, there is nothing more violating. I would rather walk down the street naked — no surprise — than to have someone read my unedited work.” (There actually was no list published)

On her boyfriend Jack Antonoff: “When I met Jack, I said to my mom, ‘I met this guy, and he’s obsessed with dying, too, and he lives in his parents’ house!’”

On big career moments: “I think there’s a part of my parents and a part of me that is consistently excited and surprised that I am in any way functional. I’ve had a lot of moments in my career where I’ve had to just say, ‘I’m picking my jaw up off the floor and carrying on,’ Because you don’t get much work done with your jaw on the floor.”
