Leonardo DiCaprio is not being banned from Indonesia despite reports.

The 41-year-old Oscar winner was getting threats about being “blacklisted” from the country after he shared his concerns for the wildlife there on social media.

“My view is that DiCaprio‘s concerns are both sincere and substantial, and he has certainly acted in good faith,” Siti Nurbaya, Indonesia’s minister of the environment and forestry, said (via People). “In fact, we largely share his concerns on this matter.”

The statement continued, “In light of this and to reciprocate his sincerity and good intentions, I am open to working together with DiCaprio in a joint effort whereby both of us can have our concerns addressed, including those that pertain to the Leuser Ecosystem.”

Leonardo DiCaprio Faces Ban from Indonesia Over Instagram Comments

Leonardo DiCaprio is currently traveling around Indonesia in a fight to help the wildlife there and now the government is threatening to ban him from the country.

The 41-year-old Oscar-winning actor is visiting the Leuser ecosystem, the last place on earth where orangutans, rhinos, tigers and elephants still live together in the wild. It is currently being threatened by Palm Oil agricultural destruction.

In several Instagram posts, Leo has urged his fans to join him in taking action to help preserve the rainforest.

“We support his concern to save the Leuser ecosystem,” Heru Santoso, the spokesman for the Directorate General for Immigration at the Law and Human Rights Ministry, said in a statement to the Associated Press. “But we can blacklist him from returning to Indonesia at any time if he keeps posting incitement or provocative statements in his social media.”

Leonardo DiCaprio Fights to Help Wildlife in Indonesia

Leonardo DiCaprio poses with some elephants and activists while visiting the Mount Leuser National Park on Sunday (March 27) in Indonesia.

“The lowland #rainforest of the Leuser Ecosystem are considered the world’s best remaining habitat for the critically endangered Sumatran #elephant. In these forests, ancient elephant migratory paths are still used by some of the last #wild herds of Sumatran elephants. But the expansion of Palm Oil plantations is fragmenting the #forest and cutting off key elephant migratory corridors, making it more difficult for elephant families to find adequate sources of food and water. The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation is supporting local partners to establish a mega-fauna sanctuary in the Leuser Ecosystem, last place on Earth where Sumatran orangutans, tigers, rhinos and elephants coexist in the wild,” the 41-year-old actor wrote on Instagram.

Local leaders are fighting to save the land in the courts, but additional help is needed. Please sign the Change.org petition to show your support.
