Liam Neeson Brings 'Cold Pursuit' To Madrid - Watch Trailer!

Liam Neeson is dapper in a suit as he hits the red carpet at the premiere of his latest film Cold Pursuit held at the Capitol Cinema on Monday (July 15) in Madrid, Spain.

The 67-year-old actor was joined at the event by the film’s director Hans Petter Moland as they also attended a photo call earlier in the day at the Villamagna Hotel.

Cold Pursuit, an action thriller infused with irreverent humor, stars Liam as Nels Coxman, a family man whose quiet life with his wife (Laura Dern) is upended following the mysterious death of their son. Nels’ search for justice turns into a vengeful hunt for Viking (Tom Bateman), a drug lord he believes is connected to the death. As one by one each of Viking’s associates “disappear,” Nels goes from upstanding citizen to ice-cold vigilante, letting nothing — and no one — get in his way.

Liam Neeson Issues Apology for Controversial Rape Revenge Story

In the story, he explained that a friend of his was “brutally raped.” He asked her the race of the individual who committed the crime and, upon finding out the man was black, tried to hunt down the “black b-stard” who raped her.

“I’m ashamed to say that – and I did it for maybe a week, hoping some [Neeson gestures air quotes with his fingers] ‘black b*stard’ would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could…kill him,” he said during an interview in February with The Independent.

Liam is now reflecting on his words.

“Over the last several weeks, I have reflected on and spoken to a variety of people who were hurt by my impulsive recounting of a brutal rape of a dear female friend nearly 40 years ago and my unacceptable thoughts and actions at that time in response to this crime. The horror of what happened to my friend ignited irrational thoughts that do not represent the person I am. In trying to explain those feelings today, I missed the point and hurt many people at a time when language is so often weaponized and an entire community of innocent people are targeted in acts of rage. What I failed to realize is that this is not about justifying my anger all those years ago, it is also about the impact my words have today. I was wrong to do what I did. I recognize that, although the comments I made do not reflect, in any way, my true feelings nor me, they were hurtful and divisive. I profoundly apologize,” he said in a statement.

The story was originally told in response to the question of how he tapped into a revenge mentality for Cold Pursuit.

Michelle Rodriguez Defends Liam Neeson, Cites His 'Widows' Kiss with Viola Davis: 'You Can't Call Him a Racist'

Michelle Rodriguez is firing back at those saying Liam Neeson is racist for the story where he admitted to attempting to hunt down the “black b-stard” who raped his friend.

“It’s all f*ckin’ bullsh*t. Liam Neeson is not a racist,” Michelle, who worked with Liam on Widows, told Vanity Fair. “Dude, have you watched Widows? His tongue was so far down Viola Davis’s throat. You can’t call him a racist ever. Racists don’t make out with the race that they hate, especially in the way he does with his tongue—so deep down her throat. I don’t care how good of an actor you are. It’s all bullsh*t. Ignore it. He’s not a racist. He’s a loving man. It’s all lies.”

Liam and Viola played a husband and wife on screen in the hit 2018 film.

Liam Neeson Clarifies Comments About Rape Revenge Plot: 'I Am Not Racist'

Liam Neeson arrives at Good Morning America for an interview on Tuesday (February 5) in New York City.

The 66-year-old actor explained some comments he made about a friend of his who was “brutally raped” where he specifically asked her the race of the individual who committed the crime. When finding out the man was black, he tried to hunt down the “black b-stard” who raped her.

“We were doing a press junket and the topic of our film is revenge,” Liam said. “It’s a dark comedy, but its basis is revenge. The lady journalist asked me how I tapped into that. I remembered an incident nearly 40 years ago where a dear friend of mine was brutally raped. I was out of the country. When she came back she told me about this and she handled the situation herself with incredible bravery, I have to say that. I had never felt this feeling before, which was a primal urge to lash out.”

“She said he was a black man,” he continued. “After that, there were some nights I went out deliberately into black areas in the city looking to be set upon so that I could unleash physical violence, and I did it for four or five times until I caught myself on. It shocked me, this primal urge I had. It shocked me. It hurt me. I did seek help. I went to a priest…I am not racist. This was nearly 40 years ago.”

Liam Neeson Admits He Roamed Streets with Weapon Looking For a 'Black B---d' After Loved One's Rape

Liam Neeson has embroiled himself in controversy after publicly telling a story he had never revealed before about a loved one’s rape.

The 66-year-old actor spoke about how someone close to him was once raped. He did not reveal this person’s identity.

“There’s something primal – God forbid you’ve ever had a member of your family hurt under criminal conditions,” he told The Independent. “I’ll tell you a story. This is true.”

Liam continued, “She handled the situation of the rape in the most extraordinary way. But my immediate reaction was…I asked, did she know who it was? No. What colour were they? She said it was a black person.”

“I went up and down areas with a cosh, hoping I’d be approached by somebody – I’m ashamed to say that – and I did it for maybe a week, hoping some [Neeson gestures air quotes with his fingers] ‘black b*stard’ would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could…kill him,” Liam continued. FYI – “cosh” is slang for “a thick heavy stick or bar used as a weapon.”

He continued, “It took me a week, maybe a week and a half, to go through that. She would say, ‘Where are you going?’ and I would say, ‘I’m just going out for a walk.’ You know? ‘What’s wrong?’ ‘No no, nothing’s wrong.’”
